WS R4/R64
Hirano 2-0 -> 2-1 -> 3-1 -> 4-3 Mende (Locker room tactics after G6 did it)
Ito 1-0 -> 1-2 -> 3-2 -> 4-3 Nomura

Both of them were under immense pressure to succeed (winning all the way). That is what Hayata has not displayed to this day.

i'm more impressed that Moe and Mende managed to match Ito and Hirano in the rallies blow for blow. Didn't feel like they were technically disadvantaged at all.

So you're going to fault Hayata for blowing past her competition over a number of high pressure Paris Trial tournaments (at least the early ones). Hirano and Ito are under pressure because they failed to secure the 2nd spot. Plus there's always a lot of pressure to win the All Japan. Hayata is a 2 time All Japan champion (2020,2023) and was a triple crown winner last year.

Another threat to Ito neutralized. As projected, Hirano has the more difficult draw.

WS R4/R64
Izumo 1-4 岡田 琴菜/OKADA Kotona

Once again, tell that to Harimoto and Mizutani, and the folks in Japan and China.

There were two rankings (best articles and best matches) done by Rallys at the end of 2023 and guess who topped both? It's NOT Hayata.

I didn't get to watch this one, but I have seen a couple of TLeague videos on Ushijima and remember thinking she has very good mechanics on her forehand. But I didn't expect it to go 7 with Kihara.

I was rooting for hashimoto to go to game 7….but….
so now Ito is out, does that mean she won’t even go to the Olympic for team?
Hirano is for sure in position two right? Regardless of the remaining outcome of this tournament! I’m so happy for her! She absolutely deserve it!
