Yeah but these are precisely the issues that inform team selection with individual fairness vs team cohesiveness. TT IMHO needs doubles events and medals and not this team thing. A while back, Archana wasn't selected for the Indian team because of the criteria that was in place then. Moreover, if you want the Mukherjee pair, who are you going to drop between Sreeja and Batra?China and Japan are probably breathing a sigh of relief. The bronze medal winning Mukherjee pair are not going to the Olympics.
Seems like the decision was made largely based on world ranking (Archana 33 places ahead of Ayhika) and other questionable reasons such as Archana's previous WR No.4 pairing with Batra.
