Yes, I was talking about the kid. I think it is an amazing idea, yet very simple.

Shadow training is really good. He should do some in front of the mirror aswell so he knows how it looks. I do alot of shadow training with my students. To hard to learn new stuff with a ball in the beginning. But very important to do the strokes and footwork correct so you do not learn wrong stuff.
