Ma Long Lost In The Second Round Of The China Super League! (PHOTOS)

The 2014 Chinese Super League continued on Tuesday with Shandong and Ningbo both fighting against challenging opponents in round 2 on the 20th May.

Round 2 Results(May, 20)

Defending champions Ningbo were to face Sichuan in their match, Ningbo’s strongest asset Ma Long who is their current number one player is often unstoppable, however even the world strongest players sometimes experience failure and today was one of those rare days. Sichuan were yet again surprisingly strong, but unfortunately for them their efforts were not enough to post a win. The Sichuan players started off with a 2-0 lead after Xu Ruifeng and Zheng Peifeng were able to defeat Ningbo’s star players Yan An and Ma Long respectively, unfortunately for Sichuan their doubles Zhu Linfeng and Lai Jiaxin lost out to Yan An and Lin Gaoyuan. This gave Ningbo the opportunity to fight back especially with start player Ma Long playing in the fourth match, Ma Long showed his worth as he powered past Xu Ruifeng 3-1. It was Joo Sae Hyuk who sealed the win for Ningbo as he was able to take the 2-0 win against Zhu Linfeng.

Guandong were to face Shandong Weiqiao a new team in the Chinese Superleague, the new team was able to take advantage of Guandong in the second round. Ren Hao, Li Tianyi and Ma Lin were able to take a 3-0 win with Ma Lin playing in the doubles alongside Yu Ziyang.

Shanghai were playing in their home court against Bazhou, Shanghai were able to show great strength against their guests, Shang Kun started off with a 3-1 win against Fan Shengpeng whilst Xu Xin was able to easily dispose of opponent Zhai Chao in the second match. Shang Kun and Zhao Zihao were able to seal the teams win in their doubles match against Zhai Chao and Cheng Jingqi.

Bayi’s new leading player Fan Zhendong was in trouble during the previous round, on Tuesday he continued to be challenged during the teams match against Jiangsu, however overall it was a much safer performance. The young Chinese player was able to seal a 3-1 win against Cui Qinglei (11-6, 10-12, 13-11, 11-3). Xu Chenhao played in the match and he was able to defeat Zhang Chao in three straight sets, Fan Zhendong then paired up with Zhou Yu in the doubles as they were able to secure a 2-0 win against Lin Chen and Zhang Chao.

Shandong Luneng were to face Tianjin, Shandong were able to get off to a flying start in the round as Zhang Jike and Hao Shuai were able to take the first two points from Ma Te and Li Ping, Olympic champion Zhang Jike then returned to the table as he teamed up with partner Fang Bo for the doubles however they were defeated against Li Ping and Kong Lingxuan. Hao Shuai then played in the fourth match losing out to Ma Te 1-3, this meant the two teams were tied at 2-2, the decider was to be between Tianjins Kong Lingxuan and Fang Bo of Shandong. It was Fang Bo who was able to withstand the pressure and seal victory for his team with a 2-1 win.
