Mark V correct spelling ?

What would be the correct meaning of the 'V' character -- latin alphabetic [vi:] or Roman numerals [faiv]
It all remains unsolved mystery to me so far.

everyone has always said it Mark Five. I have not heard any other person saying it in any other way.

Actually back in the days (long time ago), I remember it was called "Mark Five". But in the past few years, I have heard younger players call it "Mark Vee" . It is currently not a popular rubber anymore, even for beginners.
