True. I'm surprised of some of the recommended rubbers, since they don't really fit the description that the OP is looking for:Guys.. Rakza 7 is fast and bouncy af compared to "classic" rubbers.
Given that description, some of the rubbers mentioned here can be disregarded because they are either (way) too fast and bouncy (Rakza 7 / 7 Soft, Victas V-11 extra, Bryce Highspeed), too hard/heavy (Goldarc 9), topsheet too much under tension etc.). That leaves about a handful (or maybe two) of rubbers, such as:I am looking for a modern "classic rubber for forehand and backhand, meaning something like Yasaka Mark V, Tibhar Varispin etc ... but updated, with more spin capacities and no tensor effect (or very very little), I don't need something very faster than mark V, but more spin will be very appreciate.
Mark V HPS fits the description. It is a Mark V topsheet but with an upgraded sponge. Expensive for what it is though but quite OK.Hello,
I am looking for a modern "classic rubber for forehand and backhand, meaning something like Yasaka Mark V, Tibhar Varispin etc ... but updated, with more spin capacities and no tensor effect (or very very little), I don't need something very faster than mark V, but more spin will be very appreciate.
My goal is to have another blades that is All+ OFF- speed, very easy and forgiving. Usually I have blade like Septear, ZX GI etc ... with G1, V15 extra etc ... but I have to be honest with myself it is to fast for me. Since I tried Tibhar IV L with two Mark V soft, Donic waldner senso v2 with two varispin dtecs, Primorac, Samsonov alpha ect ... it is a revelation, all thing become so easy, it is very forgiving, I have the feeling to be a better player, lot of more balls stay on the table, and ok these blades and rubbers aren't the best on paper, but it give me so much confidence that i make my best shot and consistency with it.
So have you any suggestion for rubber that can match my search ?
Thank you
Funny that you mention the HPS. I bought a sheet some years ago. It was vacuum sealed and when I opened the package the rubber immediatly curled up like crazy and even days after I had trouble putting glue onto the sponge and glueing it to the blade. And, oh boy, that smell! The sponge was obviously treated with something gasoline-like, giving me literally a headache.Mark V HPS fits the description. Not my experience, It is slightly faster and spinnier but it doesn’t last as long. Just checked the two sheets I have, about a year old still in the package but looks as flat as my living room floor. I don’t remember any particular smell either…Funny that you mention the HPS. I bought a sheet some years ago. It does say on the package that it has an upgraded sponge compared to the original Mark V, but I'm not 100% convinced of that (could be just marketing by Yasaka). To me it looked like the original sponge, but it was really soft, really light(weight), really fast and smelled like an exploded gas station.
But you're right that it is pretty expensive for what you get.
That's pretty much what it should be, yes. Not sure what kind of a sheet I got back then. It was really odd. I have encountred slightly curled up sheets before (and after) right out of the package. But that (next to the smell) was really extreme. That "experience" stuck with me. For what it's worth: I bought the sheet in 2020 or 2021, I think. Perhaps Yasaka made some changes on the HPS in the meantime. Not my experience, It is slightly faster and spinnier but it doesn’t last as long. -Xiom Musa
-Joola Zack
-Victas Ventus Regular
-Andro Good
-Tibhar Volcano
-Pimplepark Epos (bit soft maybe!) and perhaps rubbers like
-Andro GTT 40/45, Joola Micron
OP might also want to give the inverted rubbers of Spinlord a closer look...
Tibhar Aurus on this weeks special at TT11...I believe in hiz heart, the OP is looking for a modern rubber that is not overly fast. not bouncy, has gears, and can do many things well, but not 100.
That description is exactly Tibhar Aurus.
Thank you I will check about it. To be more précise, my favorite rubber would be the one that is exactly like the Mark V, meaning same speed, same versatility, easy to play etc ... but with more spin.I believe in hiz heart, the OP is looking for a modern rubber that is not overly fast. not bouncy, has gears, and can do many things well, but not 100.

Mark V already has one of the best top sheets in the market, the reason why its still selling so much in JapanThank you I will check about it. ABout the AUrus, I just read that it is a "do it all" rubber, but isn't it a bit tensored ? Because as I said, even the factive is a bit bouncy to me, of course I can play well with it, it is not a rocket launcher, but I play much much better with non tensored rubber.
By modern classic, I just want to mean rubber like "classic" (for exemple Mark V), but more recent. FOr exemple the Andro good, Xiom Musa or the Victas ventus regular alpha are some exemple. Rubbers not tensor, not chinese etc ... just Mark V, Vari spin etc ... with same "feel", speed but more modern in sense of more spin with the Pball.Modern Classic is really annoying Oxymoron.
In motorcycle terms it's modern versions of bikes that were made in the 60s, so they're modern replicas, cool 60s looks without the old tech and associated reliability issues 😎
Apply this to table tennis I can only think of Mark V rubbers on new sponge, like Mark V HPS which is Mark V rubbers on Tensor Sponge.
Have butterfly done something similar with Sriver?
Maybe Rakza 7 is similar to Mark V too and could also (maybe) considered the modern version of Mark V.
I think DHS Neo 3 is also a true Classic and what's more classic than boosting your rubbers eh 😊
