@UpHill_Battle bro you gotta change your approach. Lets play and see, maybe you more advance than me - you're just shy. I think I have an extra allwood setup you could borrow as well.

I am assuming here that you had either a lot of time to do matches or you had some coaching - I suppose as well you are not an actual beginner or someone who got back to the sport after a long stop.

And you're learning is fast if last year you started then Class C already with viscaria ~ nice! Are you competing at Class C alone, or as well as C+ and/or C-?

Don't think about the Class yet, just play and enjoy. I read the thread, I started at mid life too ~ haha. If you wanted you could still aim that Class but you should play still

Will check in and get some games, hopefully I'll be able to borrow some beginner setup so I'll know what to actually buy. Setup wise there is no recommendation yet, hence the hopeful borrowing at first.

I stopped and not using any. I am reading some links here on people stating in TT again. But most are not in the same country so availability and quality might be different ~ not sure but experience from previous blade that I sold.

Looking into articles abt cheap good performance and quality of 5ply or 7ply blades, but would depend on stores or sources here.

Hi, quick background on my inquiry here.

I have played table tennis way back when, 11-12yrs ago, but it was more of after hours past time. Tho I was intrigued to play since..I had no time, no players or club to turn to. ~ needless to say I am a beginner but I understand the spin, serve, receive. My forehand is more of placement return and spin oriented, few smashes. My BH is more of chop push/block. Footwork well that needs some work.

Can a person at the older age can still learn table tennis?? and be competitive at least class C+/-. And suggestion for blade for 5ply and 7ply??
I did an impulse buy of Yinhe EC 14 with BluefireM1 FH/BH >> pretty sure I'm wrong here. Hence needing the communities recommendation.

FYI.
I still have jupiter 3 asia 40deg, battle 2 prov os 40deg and tornado V5 (bought online)

Oh and back to the original topic, at your age you definitely can. I recall there was this player who qualified in the Top 10 ranking of the PH national team in his 50s. So if you really want to you could.
