What a week of table tennis it has been! Portugal have been outstanding throughout!

The European Team Championships set in Lisbon had the Portuguese fans on their feet as Marcos Freitas secured the win against Timo Boll to crown Portugal as the 2014 European Champions!

Final: Portugal 3:1 Germany

Match 1: Marcos Freitas vs Steffen Mengel (3-0)11-8, 11-8, 11-8
Match 2: Joao Monteiro vs Timo Boll (0-3) 7-11, 1-11, 8-11
Match 3: Tiago Apolonia vs Dimitrij Ovtcharov (3-1) 11-7, 11-2,11-13, 11-9
Match 4: Marcos Freitas vs Timo Boll (3-1) 12-10 5-11 11-6 11-9

Just saw it happining live. Marcos Freitas and Tiago Apolonia played very well.

The plastic balls broke alot and caused some akward moments. They had to replay some crucial points.

Not bad beating a Germany with both Boll and Dima playing, but am i the only one thinking Germany's time is coming to it's end? Ovtcharov lost to Apolonia and recently to Stoyanov from Italy. Boll is starting to get old. Sad thinking that in some years Germany won't be a legendary team anymore :/ but well they have good youngsters but antway...

Great finale. Marcos and Tiago were on fire today. Dima had some occasional flashes of brilliance, but altogether, neither he or Timo displayed championship-tier form.

And those friggin' balls... Looks like the makers still have a lot of R&D ahead of them. Poly balls just aren't 'there' yet.
