Rubber Cement removal from a blade

I just wonder if there are any other way to remove RUBBER CEMENT from a blade, meaning not using your thumb.

Must be some solvent that will do the trick without penetrating blade wood, I guess.

Good ole lighter fluid works on buildup... and if your dog happens to sniff any of that stuff fuming off your blade, da wuff is NOT gunna be sniffing its fellow creature butt for a while. Win Win.

Thanks for your suggestions. I used acetone with Magic Eraser and after that went with a flat blade. I hope it is good enough for new rubber,

Beware: use a magic eraser with caution, it can be very abrasive on soft woods, if you play an allround kind of blade, or with limba or ayous as the outer venner, it can become thinner if you use it to much frequently. No kidding.

I agree with you. The reason I used magic eraser was that previous rubber was glued with Rubber Cement, Butterfly rubber will not need MEraser at all.
