That pretty much happened many times in that game, I believe so. The only player in that tournament to outplay ML with varied positioning and blocks. Vladimir has positive score agaainst ML. I think he had defeated him couple of times during the last decade.

Ma Long won, of course, but it was more because of his agility and power. Samsonov was on an even-footing when it came to over-the-table play.
