Yes, it's a bigger head size.very nice handles..
why is the headshape of #602 different? looks longer or the sides are more straight?
Yes, it sure can 🙂I like the composition of the blade #595 (Hinoki / Hinoki / Innegra-Carbon / Kiri core).
The used woods are definitely softer and IC, as far as I read on SDC website, has soft and elastic feeling, so I expect this blade fit my taste.
Can it be classified as a soft ALL+ blade?
Hi Sergio, sorry for digging this out after quite a while. I am very curious about the effect of enlarged wings as seen here or with the Goriki Danshi or another unknown/unlabeled defence blade I have at home. The larger wings do indeed make the handles feel chunky. Do you know if there is anything else about it? I am not sure but it feels like my wrist is not that flexible with the large wings, taking away some topspin when attacking and giving some more stability when chopping. What do you think about it?While the handle dimensions may make it seem like a small handle, it does in fact feel chunky in the hand due to the larger wings.

The wings just change the position where you put your hand to hold the paddle. With flared handles this can make a big difference because they usually don't have a constant thickness, meaning that the thickness decreases from the bottom to the thumb bevel. So, putting your hand further down makes it indeed feel chunkier because in reality it is. With straight handles the difference is not so big because they normally have constant thickness, but the same logic applies for the width. In terms of actual playing, it does make a difference but not on how the blade performs. The increase in material is below the bending point of the blade (which is located in the blade face, above the tip of the handle), so the impact it makes on how the blade bends is negligible. Now, what makes an impact, or better yet, how you feel it, is where your hand is positioned, so if your hand is in a different place, the feedback you get is also different.Hi Sergio, sorry for digging this out after quite a while. Hey! I'm never able to make a blade "just like" any other one, only if it's one of my own, and even then sometimes it's hard if I no longer have the same materials. There are a lot of variables in terms of manufacturing methods that I don't know, and there is no way of knowing unless you are right there on the factory. So, I'm able to build my interpretation of a specific model, but it's never a 1:1 copy.Greetings!
Hey, I was wondering if you would you be able to make a blade just like Xiom Hugo HAL. I mean material, dimensions, handle and behavior. Is it possible?
Cheers!

Many, many times. I've had a big percentage of success, but some fails too. Obviously I haven't tried all blades in existence, so if I haven't tried a specific model, that makes things harder, even if I have a general idea of how it should play. For me it's more important to know what the customer expects from the blade, and make the necessary adjustments, finding out the composition is usually the easy part.Hey!
I really appreciate your answer and understand that it's hard, if not impossible, to have two identical blades. Even for mass produced blades. Natural materials can be similar but almost never identical.
Have you ever being asked to make a blade "just like" other blade? If so, would it be asking too much to share what was your approach?
Thank you!
Cheers!
There is no recipe for that, I just try to describe the materials as best as I can and keep the customer informed. Then you send me an email and we discuss the possible solutions for you, based on your play style and preferences 🙂.The more I read through the pages, the more interested I'm and at the same time the more confused. Say if I want a 7-ply composite blade, what material combinations should I be looking for? I went through the FAQ's, material details on the SDC website, but could not decide what would make sense for my requirement.
