Seiya Kishikawa defeats the odds to win the Japanese Open 2011

The Japanese Open 2011 Men’s Singles final took place between the top seeded Jun Mizutani versus fifth seed Seiya Kishikawa.

The first set went to Seiya Kishikawa and hammered the set with a 11-3 win. Jun Mizutani the top seed had a very poor start.

In the second set, Jun Mizutani started to pick up his game and took an 8-4 lead. Jun went on the win the set 11-6.

In the third set was a much closer fought game with the set levelling at 4-4, then 5-5. The set was then levelled at 7-7. Kishikawa won the next 3 points giving him 3 set point wins. Jun pulled back 2 points but wasn’t able to hold of Seiya, thus giving Seiya a 2-1 lead.

Seiya Kishikawa was able to maintain his momentum and carried through his performance into the fourth set. Seiya Kishikawa won the set in a close 11-9 victory with Jun Mizutani always behind in the set.

In the fifth set, the fifth seed was able to maintain his top form leading the set 7-5. Seiya then got closer to winning with a 2 match points at 10-8. He then won match point to win the set 11-9 and now Seiya Kishikawa was the new Pro Tour Men’s Singles title holder in the Japan Open 2011.


This is Seiya Kishikawa’s first ever Pro Tour win. A big congratulations goes out to Seiya!
