I think his Intention was to throw the racket into the net and not to the other side but still he shouldn't have done it of course

I watched the match highlights and Filus expressed an unusual, for him, amount of agitation throughout the match.
From this, I assume that something outside the match was intruding on his mindspace.

Possibly unrelated but I found this match from the 2021 TT Cup Final:

Filus had 4 match points against Aruna and wound up losing 6 straight points to lose the match, showing a lot of frustration all the while. He might've had this on his mind.

They were Bundesliga teammates recently too and maybe they 1) either didn't get along, or 2) Filus knows Aruna's game well and believes he should be able to beat him.

I was wondering if there was something personal between these two players. I was originally suspecting perhaps racism but maybe i was off. we may never know.

There's a player at my club who throws his racket when he loses sometimes. I don't understand why an armature player would do that. I would never want to see my $300 set up shatter to pieces lol.

Racism is something taken very seriously in Germany, given its history, specially since footballers from turkish descent have played in the german national team, like Mesut Ozil.

You're clearly off, indeed. Ruwen Filus is anything but racist. I've had some german friends in my life, all were speaking about their anti-racist education very early at the kindergarten and then elementary school. Germany lives with that kind of "Holocaust Complex" that kind of make their youth feel guilty even if they've done nothing, even if they were born way after WWII. They feel guilty simply because ... history.

Some white south african families even hire black nannies to make sure their childs will understand what it means, some young white kids are even fluent in xhosa language...

That is great there is anti racism education from a young age in Germany, especially given their history. There is a reason they need to have that sort of education because we really are not that far removed from WWII when you think of it.

I don't know Ruwen Filus (as in, i've never spoken to him, so i won't pretend to know his intentions). And I will give him the benefit of the doubt. But it would be suspicious if he has never had this sort of outburst against another player. Could be coincidental. Who knows.

Also, i'm not sure what you mean by your last sense or how that proves if someone is racist or not? Anyways, I don't want to turn this into a discussion about that, I was just thinking out loud. I will take your word about Ruwen. Either way, the outbust was unbecoming at a bare minimum. I get that there are a lot emotions in this sport. Heck I really don't care if someone throws a racket that is their own. You just have to be aware that there are other people on this earth, and he could have seriously hurt that person who was just trying to do their job.

Interesting thought but i highly doubt that. Ruwen is usually mentally pretty weak. He gets angry really fast if he doesnt play well.
Although i like defense players like him, we are better off without him. I hope his suspension takes him to retirement. Better watch any other player than him. Racket throwing like this has no place in sports.

I guess I haven’t seen him play enough to know how he behaves normally. I have no Ill will towards him. I hope he can recover from this mental weakness. Like I said, racket throwing doesn’t belong in this sport but I guess I’m biased because I came from playing soccer where everyone and their mama tries to fight, talk shit and get extra physical when they don’t like how the competition is unfolding.

Since you're american and living in a free-speech nation, I don't think you're right to talk about what's happening in Europe in general, and germany specially. Here there are laws against hate speech and all kind of discrimination, free speech is restricted, and it's a good thing. Also the ERCI is always visiting the UE countries and report anything that might be wrong in each nation's policies, we're not in America mate... it's Europe here, when some of our politicians make xenophobic or racist statements, they are sued, and sentenced. Like Jean-Marie Le Pen (father of Marine Lepen), Trump would have never it in France with his hate/xenephobic/sexist/homophobic speeches...

Of course there are still issues with racism here, but it's not open bar like in the US.

Young Ruwen ... I knew it was him, the french slogan says "don't miss the simple things"

:ROFLMAO:
Ruwen is so lucky, he will now get to eat some great looking sausages.
When I was a young men I would have been tarred and feathered for an offense like that
and "NO", I would not have gotten the sausages either.

There is a traffic light. It turns red. You decide to run through it. You had a near miss with another vehicle but nothing serious happens. It was caught on camera. You were issued a fine. You pay for it. End of story.

Any other discussion about the morality / ethics / sportsmanship / driving skills are all proliferation of thoughts. One thought leads to another to another and another...

You guys catching my drift?

Yes, I am catching your drift but the comparison stinks to high heaven. (n)
