The SpinSight App and equipment is starting to be used by some of you guys n gals.

This thread is for members to post their experience with SpinSight, and maybe some data on the equipment being used. Some reviews with a certain amount of fact rather than a personal impression.
EJ’s will love this!!!

It’s about time this happened.

I tried it today. Pretty fascinating. My max forehand spin was around 120 with my average on my comfortable loop around 110 and it was interesting that it didnt change much with rubber or blade, only that I felt more consistent and could hit a bit harder even if the ball wasn't always fast with 09c vs Zyre and 80. The process drains battery power and all 4 of us played around with some features but there is clearly still a lot to learn. But having data where I had none previously will definitely influence my style and decision making. I will also try to see what I can do about various things but it all starts with having data.

What was interesting was that "flat shots" had topspin in the 60-90 rps ranges. My dead serves did come in close to zero (i got about 5-7rps). My backspin serve was easily in the 40s and when juiced to the max, while it sometimes traveled long, i could get it in the 50s zone once got to 60 on a long serve. All the other guys I practiced with had more physical loops and one got to 130 but most peaked at 120-125.

Again, a lot of stuff to learn better and figure out how to optimize.

Just remember when looking at numbers that Spinsight has an error margin.

I asked in the other thread and Spinsight stated that the best case error is +- 2.5% and worst case +-5%

So if Spinsight says spin is 100, in reality it is best case 97.5 - 102.5, and worst case 95 - 105

I wouldn't do any betting on who can get the most spin without accounting for error because if player 1 shows 100 and player 2 shows 101, that doesn't mean player 2 had more spin because the error bars overlap.

Have you used it before and what was your experience? How did this error rate factor in?

so I played with 3 different blades and rubbers.
Had basically same results (regular 120-130) for top spin against block with 3 month old vega korea, 2 weeks old k3 fx and d05 where d05 was least controllable on short serves.

On side/top spin serve mostly 60 plus, but with new k3 it was over 70 3 times in row.

Reverse pendelum back/side reached 60 few times, but mostly around 55

What suprised me was that with friend's pimples out spinfire I had average 50 on backspin serves. What even is this rubber xD ?

Only with Zyre03 had slightly higher rps on top spin drives and glued 1 day earlier omega 8 pro was the only rubber that got very wet after few minutes and produced worst numbers. It was okay when not wet at the beginning.

full power bh with mk-fx against block reached 140 rps once, but I would never hit such a shot in a match.

I will have one more chance to try it soon,so maybe I will record something

I have also learnt I am unable to produce simple top spin serves without a sidespin...

Used a few times for serving practice so far. Lots of fun, and objective measurements are great motivators. Main concern is losing (or someone stepping on) the very expensive balls. Works fine with either a tripod or the net post phone holder. After many tries at the serve skills tests, topped out at average 65 rps for short backspin (best was high 60s, never saw 70) and 31 km/h for fast long (best was 33). Also enjoyed the games that challenge you to serve with precise spin rates, spin angles, or speeds. I think this could be a very helpful training tool.

yeah isn't that the entire point of that app? What meaningful thing can you get out other than the spin? Maybe speed in long fast serves what else?
Yeah, I agree spin is the most interesting metric it captures, but it also captures speed and you asked how Lazer could test it without the spotted balls.
