Hi all
I recently invested in the new Spinsight app - I am a data junkie and so was intrigued by the chance to see some speed and spin data on shots, serves etc.
I ordered the pro package which comes with 50 specially marked balls, a decent quality tripod and access to the app - it arrived in about 2 weeks.
After spending a few weeks with it I am thoroughly enjoying the ease of use and the quality of the data - it took me some time along with my son and some too-ing and fro-ing with the team at Spinsight, to get it set up and working but now I am pretty comfortable. It is fairly tolerant of less than optimal light levels such as in my shed and is also tolerant of less than the desired space from table. I am using a spare iPhone as the monitor device but will probably look to add a larger screen option in due course.
You can choose either a specific focus such as topspin vs backspin or a particular serve, with a defined number of balls (It also has some serves already pre-programmed, with more to come) or you can just set up free play and do what you choose. There are some coaching pointers in the app too.
What it doesn't have right now, but apparently is coming, is a way to track and monitor progress in terms of spin.
Overalll a good product, and for those that like data, it appears to be pretty accurate and consistent. It is easily portable and so can be taken to a club or coach and set up for others to try as long as you have a network connection.
