If only he had better coaching after ATTC 2021 when he was 20 and more malleable. He is lucky to have won WTTC MD gold (easiest draw in recent years) at 23 (the magic number) and is vulnerable to a slump after such a good year. It's more complicated than just skills now, having to deal with his fame and status from here on, on top of expectations from before that he has yet to meet.

Even 5ch forum users have started to soften up to him so I imagine the overall expectation is higher than ever right know

Quadri really rocked Zhou Qihao who also seemed affected by the cheering. My friends were so loud in the stadium that I could tell because of the lag in table streams when Quadri won a point before it hit my stream because I could hear it on another table that was ahead of Quadri's match. Zhou might not admit it but for me that game 1 timeout was a clear sign the crowd cheering was getting to him. Quadri did the damage and played more backhand openers than I remember in all my years watching him. Harimoto should be next if all goes according to plan.

BTW, Quadri's luggage hasn't arrived. Luckily he packed blade and rubber and my friends lent him clothes and shoes. Other than the weird gear, you would not know the difference by his play. Amazing stuff. And good coaching by Jide too, I was surprised by the game 2 timeout but Quadri won the last two points after it. All in all fun to watch lol and get the gist after.

I’m just rewatching his game against ZQH and only his table tennis shoes are different. He usually wears Mizuno but today Butterfly.

Good that your friends lent him some clothes and shoes. Do your friends personally know Aruna to even know that his luggage did not arrive yet?

Looking forward to watching Miyu Nagasaki vs. Wang Yidi in an hour or so. Miyu has been playing some amazing table tennis lately. She's always had power on both wings, but now her level of consistency has shot up and her recovery has been much better as well.

(The main reason is that Las Vegas is in Nevada, which is a hot and high [altitude] deserted state. Had they picked a large stadium in Los Angeles/Houston/any city on the east coast of the United States, it would've been much better. Las Vegas is not a suitable place to hold tournaments)

Ricardo posted his second VLOG. Criticises the playing conditions again. The tables in the practice area are really slow, but the match tables are much faster so everyone is struggling with it. The flooring is not great. They put wood planks beneath the floor and once you stomp the table shakes. Furthermore it can get windy in the tent. I think I read somewhere the AC had to be turned off to improve the drift resulting in too much heat which Dang Qiu complained about. Rain apparently even got in and due to a sandstorm a couple of days ago training in the afternoon had to be cancelled. You can also see a separate room that houses the TTR set-up at 6:17. It's pretty crazy.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the umpire kept miscounting the score to the point that the assistant umpire switched places with her.

They should have used the Las Vegas Convention Center like they have in the past for US Nationals. It's huge, well air conditioned, easy access to hotels some adjacent to the LVCC, monorail access. I mean this is a GRAND SMASH.
