By the same token, Odo is only good for doubles. Don't you think? This doesn't bode well for Odo compared to Hirano because she has to convince the Japanese public that she can take on the burden if she were to replace Hirano.

So far the only real result (against non-teammates) she has is the WTTC XD silver, which many Tieba users have expressed is thanks to Yoshimura. She has nothing to show for WS/WD/WT.
Satsuki doesn't have to convince anybody of anything. Her career is her own and not diminished by any comparison to Hirano. A year or so ago, she had no ranking and most fans had no idea who she was. She earned her way to top 10 in the world. And not only her top 8 results, but look at the points she has in reserves. Whether she makes it to the Olympics or not, her story is pretty amazing on its own.

Just staying in your hotel or on the Strip can make Las Vegas really expensive. A way out is to use Yelp or a similar service to find quality food nearby and take a taxi there. The same works for supplies and a supermarket. A couple of miles from the Strip, Las Vegas turns pretty normal and there is good stuff to be found.

Feel free to convince the CNT and those around. They don't see Hayata as a threat. They're projecting 3 years from now. Hayata keeping Miwa at bay is what they are glad to see. So you're actually supporting them by cheering on Hayata.

A Tieba thread on that popped up after Miwa's loss.

如果日女肯让球的话,国乒是不是更艰难。 (If the Japanese women are willing to take team orders, wouldn't it be more difficult for the CNT?)

(Just like last year in Montpellier, Odo beat Harimoto, and Harimoto was just one step away from reaching the top 4. Because she couldn't get a seeding position, she was always fixed to Manyu, and she either fell in the R16 or the QF, which resulted in even less points. If the Japanese women's team doesn't let the top 4 of the world rankings come out, they will always be rigged)

(The Japanese women can't possibly take team orders. Didn't Miwa say in a recent interview that she must play in all competitions, big and small, because the competition among her teammates for the ranking is very fierce, and she is afraid that she would be squeezed out and have no competitions to play)

i thought you argue your butt off that Japan is a national team system?

and look at some CNT players, squeezed out too and have no competition to play - because they follow the national team system.

So easy to reverse your message and there is lots of truth behind my message too.
CNT, JNT, each have they problems leading to the same result.

It's pretty ridiculous compared to those on the East Coast and Macau. Macau actually provides free drinks and quality refreshments.
In the Vegas casinos, drinks are free for people who are actively gambling but that is to get them to lose more money.

A travel hack for getting free water is by refilling bottles using water coolers in the hotels' gyms, at least in the US. I wonder if any players know or do that.

I've heard this before from those who argue that ML is the GOAT. Yet, as ML has finally put it to rest, he can't accept that title.

Hirano's achievements have to be viewed collectively because they were all done in close succession at such a young age, which no one has replicated to this day. FTW at World Cup 2016, DN/ZYL/CM at ATTC 2017 and FTW again at WTTC 2017.

Even Jordan doesn't call himself the GOAT. ML not accepting the title is the usual modesty of anyone not named Muhammed Ali. Rules change, times change, contexts change, so you are usually the greatest of your era.

I think some people just don't understand the meaning of humbleness.
not accepting GOAT is indeed modesty.
and Japanese players are culturally humble too. They will reflect themselves, and then some people take it as announcing self-flaws.
I guess this is a clear cultural differences, but I know most countries do have traits of modesty, so maybe this is just certain people or maybe making use of it for certain narratives.

And remember how you ridiculed that here, here and so on? Also with rainneverever here and here.

p.s.
rainneverever even lied right in my face in an attempt to win the argument.

I know infallible people consider asking questions to be "ridiculing" but you can ask ChatGPT if that is the only way to interpret such statements. I ask questions to understand what is really driving the thought process because if someone really believes you can't compare across eras, can they define the eras it is reasonable to compare across? Or are they just doing it to say anyone doing it is wasting time?

In reality, all these things come down to judgment, and the main point is that Ma Long is being modest, and that modest greats give historical context and the travails of their peers as limitations of calling them the greatest ever even when they are by statistical counting methods. That isn't the same thing as saying that they really don't believe it, or that someone can't come up with their own weightings or use polls. I know people who believe all GOAT debates are rubbish. I know people who think statistical and contextual adjustments can get you to the answer. Both are reasonable positions with all their limitations. I ask questions to understand how people think, and it is always fun to deal with the people who pretend they can never have limitations.

WS QF
CY 4-3 Hayata (9) (-6, -9, -5, 9, 7, 2, 9)
CY kept hitting to Hayata's FH rather than her BH and kept getting her shots anticipated because she hit with so much pace that the shots landed in Hayata's ideal range. She didn't start hitting to Hayata's BH consistently until late G4 and the moment she did that on the crucial points she got that game.
CY is getting the hang of it in G5, hitting more to Hayata's BH and middle on the crucial points.
From Hayata's facial expression in G6, the painkiller is wearing off, making tons of misses. Can't hide it.
Hayata must be in a lot of pain. Couldn't make a proper stroke on the shot to her middle at 1:4.
Deja vu of R16 match between Hayata and CIC at World Cup 2025. Poor Harimoto, if it were bo7, she would've exposed Hayata's "disability".
