Wasting a Stiga hybrid wood

C-pen or not, here I come.
Removing rubbers, putting a thin kitchenknife to the test.. only to find out the bloody thing is totally hollow. :(

So, what now?
Glue it back as it was with only minor splinters missing on one side... ?
Or remove both sides, shortening the blade as shown in the pic. Keeping fingers crossed that the sides will keep the integrity of the handle once glued back?

I'd fill in the empty space with wood glue. If you want only mild weight gain low (good) then reinforce it with wooden toothpicks instead of nails or paperclips.

Dont know if i should add weight?
Im shortening it to a c-pen and sure, the balance may need fixing.. Hmmm..

Toothpicks huh?.. :)

Ill use Sugru to fill all the gaps and glue the parts back together..

Nope.

The reason you might want to consider adding weight is the impact dynamics. Modern blades are hollow to a large or moderate degree and the hollow space takes away from impact. I use nails to reinforce my glue, (think cement and building/construction using iron rods) but if you want to add less weight, the toothpicks reinforce it well and weigh next to nothing. The wood glue weighs anywhere from 10-18 grams depending on how hollow everything is.

Wow, the Mod cut off the entire bottom to leave a huge gap in the bottom, which is really needed to stabilize the blade.

Still, it looked like you added some weight, albeit less weight since there is less area to fill (you chopped some of it off).

Overall, with what you put in there (if it filled in most of the hollow area) you should be HAPPY with the result. A totally different feel on loops.

If you do a very straight arm 110% all out power hit with good core balance, then you can really lay the smack down, that is the only stroke you would feel the extra weight taking a little longer to accelerate.

All the other strokes are gunna be easier to a small or large degree with more weight low. PLUS, the impact feel is totally different, usually BETTER. (after such a mod)
