Stay patient and good job using orthotic inserts now. Many old folk like me wear boots 20-25 yrs for 12 hrs a day before our feet cry uncle and we gotta tap out with Plantar Faciatis. I got inserts in Iraq for my boots and got cured 90% in two weeks. Never went back to the pain in morning and proper inserts save lives if you depend upon your wheels to get you places.
If you got some money laying around go for those New Balance white cross trainers in size 9 4E or 6E width and take your time finding something that fits and has a gum sole. The rubber soles on those cross trainers are still OK for TT, but gum has the best grip on slippery floors. What is good about those cross trainers is that they are very stable in lateral movement. Your inserts inside your shoes also greatly help out your stability as well. Only problem with good cross trainers over light TT shoes is the light shoes are obviously lighter. Yet, a big lad like got enough power in your core and legs to cope with it enough. Carl will tell you I got enough beef on me to move a heavy shoe as well.
I have a pair of Asics Cross Trainers I have as backup TT shoes and I have my Powerstep inserts in them, and YES, they take up a little room. If my light combat boots had a different sole, they would light enough for match play. Maybe I toss you a pair of 9 Extra wide combat boots that have seen combat, (there is no blood or gore on them) and I got a pair to spare I'm finished with military next spring. You wear those to school and kick some bully's tail or at least scare 'em off.
