remember what you said, and I hope you don't retire any one of them before LA, lol
First and foremost, that's what Odo said.

I noted back in 4/2024 that the level displayed by Odo and Yokoi up to that point wouldn't be enough for LA 2028 and boom, Odo lost to Batra in straight games in WT SF of ATTC 2024, her first continental competition (and not to mention the XD). Odo revealed at WTT CS Montpellier 2024 that she had been off lately but she was on on the final day. That's the lower limit that LGL assessed for the Olympics. 4 years is a long time. Even Hirano said she was frustrated that her results and her position in the world did not match up during the 5-year Tokyo 2020 cycle. Her wins at Polish Open 2016, World Cup 2016, Zennihon Takkyu 2017 and ATTC 2017 and the bronze medal at WTTC 2017 were even more impressive and she maintained that form from 4/2016-6/2017. How long can Odo and Yokoi keep this up? It's still an unknown. Odo and Yokoi will turn 24 when LA 2028 comes. That will be their only chance to make it.

Once again, worry about TPE first. LYJ is 1W3L versus F. Lebrun, losing the last 3, 2 of which 0-3. Not to mention 0-4 LSD. He couldn't even close out on WCQ that even a 14-year-old kid could manage. Where will LYJ be in 4 years time? KCJ? CIC? CSY?

It was a good run for Odo, but she's human... The 2 Champions events were thrust upon her with Muscat in between. It's not much, but she does get a short break before Champions Frankfurt which begins on Sunday.

Great win for Odo over He Zhuojia considering HZJ's record over a number of top Japanese women:
5-0 vs. Mima
2-0 vs. Hirano
1-0 vs. Miwa
1-0 vs. Kihara
1-0 vs. Shibata
Nagasaki did beat her 3-2 at 2022 Contender Tunis. Hayata has never played her. HZJ did beat Odo once before in 2018 when Odo would have been 14 yrs old.
How about Kasumi

Out of curiosity, what does it take to qualify for the national team for Japanese players?

IIRC, there is a set of rules. Winning Zennihon Takkyu is a guarantee for the year.

I'm all for gamemanship but it's a bit in poor taste that the Chinese bench is shouting cho-le as loud as possible for things like Uda missing a sitter into the net or edge balls for LSD.
It was so loud I almost thought there is a crowd watching live.

There's probably still zero actual crowd. But when over half the draw is CNT players, they can simulate homefield advantage by being loud as they can.

Odo gets a net gain of 90 points (140 - 50) from Muscat to bring her to 2328 which puts her past SYB to take the #10 ranking. Mima Ito has a net loss of 85 points with expiring points which puts her at 2355 so Odo will be within 27 points of her compatriot.

Uda's game rarely is firing on all cylinders but boy does it look pretty when it does.

Guy just looks incredibly fast and agile and plays some of the most aesthetically pleasing points. He's like a ninja or something out there.

Yeah, it's another dead event live viewers wise. Can't tell if there is anyone else cheering for Uda aside from the coach.
