According to its latest figures, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) identified India as the country with the highest positivity rate for banned substances in 2023, at 3.8 per cent, out of major sporting nations. The agency has also released data that shows India is the second-worst offender when it comes to doping among minors, behind only Russia.

And yet, in a decision that will be rubber-stamped next month, the South Asian country has just been awarded the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will take place six years before the Olympics India is gunning for, also in Ahmedabad.

Asked if ITTF is looking at India for hosting more tournaments, Sorling said the number of events hosted by the country recently has been on the rise.

“First and foremost, the number of events is always something that we debate. On one hand, we need more events. On the other hand, we have 52 weeks and for the players, there is a lot of events already. We have to balance this,” she said.

“When it comes to events here in India, we have seen, I was here in Goa 2023 when it was the first WTT events. It was a successful event and since then you have hosted a lot of WTT events.

“You also have hosted the Continental Championships, the Asian Championships. From ITTF and WTT side, we are looking forward to come back here in India for big events like this one,” she added.

And here's the irony. The world may not acknowledge it but India is already solving the problem that Japan is facing. India wants to host the 2036
Olympics and India's approach is built around a multi-ity model where Ahmedabad would be the primary hub. It will have
the main Olympics village and the major events. Buberneshwar has been discussed for hockey, Bhopal for rowing, Pune for
canoeing and Mumbai for cricket and football. The idea is not to build everything in one place. It is to use the existing infrastructure and build
new facilities where they can have a life after the Olympics. The point we're making here is simple.
Don't judge a host by its name. Judge it by how well it hosts.
And when you pick the next one, pick a country that actually wants the games, not one that is looking to cut corners.
We say that's one hosting bias we could use.

If it was China and India hosting these events the criticism they would face if their hotel/place where they sleep was like this you wouldn’t hear the end of that but since Japan is hosting it they get a free pass for it.

Cricket is the 2nd most popular sport in the world but the host Japan could not even get decent accomodation for the India Cricket Team. This was originally going to be their accomodation look how much space there is for 2 people. No way it looks enough to have multiple luggages and cricket gear fit in this room for 2 players
