A Tieba user points out that one of the fans in the spectator stand (the one yelling in Japanese) was a Matsushima's fangirl from Japan, who was there for his every match, even in the CTTSL and that she knows his dad and mom. Another user says that she also rooted for XYB/XP during their MD match.

男双决赛怎么了? (What happened in the MD F?)

I have been wondering where you have been. Great to see back for Defense of the Clones!
Hey man, somebody's gotta do it eh?
Besides, I don't think being a practice partner for a matchup at a stage of a tournament = clone.
But I'm sure some other people are not as kind.

Nah, you are the one subjectively attaching insult to the term. Can't help you there so good luck!

You're the one depersonalising a professional player for... Whatever reason you might have.
Wow, it bothers you too? Okay then. Qian Tianyi, the likely practice partner who mimics and clones Hina Hayata on the CNT, and from now one referred to by me as "Hayata clone" is a person.

Wow, guys, there's a Lenny Bruce comedy routine about this from 70 years ago, you could find it on YouTube probably.

Clone is a word, there is context. NL has no personal animus against some perfectly lovely, hardworking and extremely talented Chinese girl he will never meet.

It's a known thing that the CNT asks players to mimic top competitors' play style. That is all clone means.

You want NL to say that in some more complicated and ridiculous formulation, for whatever reasons you may have.

We can 100% be sure Qian Tian Yi gives no fucks whether some American amateur player refers to her as a clone on a forum she doesn't know or care exists.

I just find a problem, you can't write off 3-0 to players who bypass first round, if they lost in next round, they were only awarded points for 64R, like Harimoto and SHW here.

Chinese clone has always had a negative connotation to it. You're always quick to bring that article from 20 years ago of the guy who played in China and knows all the "secrets".
You can't do better than petty denial. She's the only Chinese lefty doing relatively well on the big stage, and you're already calling her the Hayata clone. Who are you fooling?

And who's the Sun Yingsha clone on the Japanese team? And why are you not pointing that out of nowhere?
Or you think somehow the Japanese, Koreans and other teams do not have similar arrangements?

Kuai Man, anyone? Can you provide the articles with the negative connotations of Chinese clone? I at least provided am article from a successful TT coach in Maryland, you just provide your righteousness.

In fact, more discussion of the topic led to the conclusion that cloning is just a stage of development that many players go through until they are main national team members and that current national team members have been clones in the past. But it is okay, maybe there is something deeper to this i don't understand. Maybe you lost something personal and are traumatized by my use of the word. Sorry for your loss.

Most of the Japanese team use male practice partners. But sure, Hashimoto is probably the Ruwen Filus clone.

Negative connotation maybe only to the most sensitive types always looking to be offended at something.

"Clone" practice partners is absolutely something that the CNT still utilizes, you clearly have no idea how many people they roll deep at these tournaments and how many practice partners they have that travel with the team who aren't entered in the tournament. Ask yourself why Xue Fei is still getting run in 2025.

Depends what you mean by similar but the Koreans and Japanese in fact do not have nearly as many practice partners to choose from who have the level and style they are looking to practice with.

He's still getting chances because he's a player on the national team duh?
Who the hell is Xue Fei cloning for him to be getting chances to play at Feeders event? His style is so dissimilar to everyone out there
He's a national team player, of course he'd get chances to play although these chances are few and far between
