Cool! How is it different from the regular J3 Asia?

Is it still fast and bouncy like the regular J3?
near table it's almost similar, but far from table you can see the sponge is much more powerful, it's much denser than the J3 Asia. But the downside is it's heavier (5 grams more)

Just to add to this thread, I now have Jupiter 3 on two of my blades

38d on Nittaku Acoustic Inner G-Rev: Sponge is 50d measured. This one feels super boosted out of the package despite being used for a few hours and stored for over a year. Out of the Chinese rubbers I've played, it reminds me most of my friend's Rakza Z. Fast and spinny but on big shots the full 'weight' of the stroke isn't all transferred to the ball.

39d on Yasaka Resonate AI: Sponge is 51d measured (52d from topsheet). This one feels like almost a different rubber. Similar to Loki Arthur China. More time on ball and more 'heavy' feeling when hitting hard. Have only used it for a couple of hours but feels good to play with so far.
how about trying a harder sponge ? it can transfer your power better, and kills the ball better (if your blade can support it)

Imo, it isn't worth playing harder versions of Jupiter 3. I am a long-time Jupiter 2/3 user and 38 degrees feels like blessing:
- Low weight, normally between 45-47 grams.
- Strong bounce.
- Solid spin that is easy to produce.

Dunno why, but 39 feels much stiffer and way less bouncy than the 38 version (which is even bouncier than 37 LOL). 39/40 versions produce more spin and a more toxic lower trajectory, but they don't forgive technique flaws like the 38 version does. With 38, you can attack pretty much anything, but with 39/40 you need to engage the legs and body for almost every shot.

I tried the J3 Tour NT for the last few days - tottally impressed ! It plays almost exactly like H3 pro blue sponge of the same hardness (both are H41) - power far from table is great, topsheet is super tacky, a bit lower throw but I like it. I got it for 22$ on sale which is much cheaper than H3 pro

The 39d seems hard enough. 51d sponge and 52d measured from the topsheet.

Only the 38d Jupiter feels slightly hollow.

I've used the 40.5d Rxton 9 and 41d Rxton 5 and they feel similar to the 39d Jupiter 3.

update: after 1 week, the tack is less but still good, but the performance dropped noticeably, my shots became unstable on power shots, way less curves. Feels like the sponge lost half of the elasticity of the first few days :(

Just in a matter of a week? That's quite disappointing. Will different hardness perform better?

I think its spin capacity relies on the tackiness a lot, after it started to get less tacky, I can notice the ball hit the net more often, if I try to engage the sponge, the ball flies fairly straight, not much curves

Did you boost it after unpacking? If not, could it be that the factory booster just faded away?

I mean, I would surely boost the 41 sponge. In fact, I try to avoid anything beyond 39 degrees, and even 39 degrees means I need to apply at least 2 layers of Falco.

I suspect so, I glued it out of package without additional boostings. I'll try to apply 2 Haifu layers and see how it performs

I suppose you are talking about Jupiter 3 Tour here, not the J3 asia? ~ just checking

As for Jupiter, I noticed that the red Jupiter has a much more wear-resistant topsheet than the black. To confirm my words, here is a photo of two Jupiters 3 39, which I play on the forehand. I bought the black Jupiter later and played it about the same as the red one. The difference in play is simply incomparable. In addition, I had a red Jupiter 2, which after 5 years of play still has a tenacious topsheet. Now my amateur friend plays with it and is still happy with it.

update: I applied 2 layers of Haifu then put it on Pro 01 and the sheet became powerful again. Guess it's just the factory boost went out

Hey @longle it's been a month now, I'm curious how's the J3 tour holding on? Considering the performance dropped only within 1 week of play in your case, if I were to buy a J3 tour, should I boost it straight out of the package or wait until the performance drop?

It's still playable, hard and bouncy, but I feel that the curves are being flatter, mostly due to the topsheet lost its tackiness. I suggest you boost it out of package, an take care of the topsheet

Okay thanks for the insight. How do you rate J3 tour between other chinese BS rubbers which are not H3N, say B2 BS Nat or Rxton IX?

So after playing with BD 39 FH on my Sanwei F3 Pro for the last 4 months, I picked up a J3 Asia and Yinhe Pro 01 during 11.11. I have only played a couple of hours after being very tired from traveling so my thoughts might change but here were my first impressions:
  1. Compared to the BD 39, J3 felt very spinny but a lot slower. I thought with the Pro 01, the shots might actually be faster but they required a lot of effort to get the speed

  2. This was most evident on blocks, a lot of my blocks went straight into the net

  3. There were a few moments when I was able to get both insane spin and decent speed. But it was a rare occurrence.

  4. Didn't feel too much of a difference in the service but did notice it was better on receive
I will say, after reading the reviews here, I was a little surprised to find how much slower I found J3 compared to the BD.

Overall, I am looking forward to keep playing with it this week. I am chalking down my experience to tiredness/inconsistent technique rather than anything to do with the rubber. After all, I was also trying a new blade + rubber so two variables to adjust.
