The leading players of Japan took to the stage at the Qatar World Tour last week, this gave rising stars in Japan a chance to shine at the Japan Top 12 Championships! Jun Mizutani and Koki Niwa are both playing in the Kuwait World Tour Open 2012 this week!
On the 11th February 2012 Taku Takakiwa and Misako Wakamiya claimed the Men's and Women Singles title respectively.

This competition was very tough with twelve very strong men and women that took place in two stages. The first stage as cited on ittf.com saw three players compete in four groups. The winner of each group progressed to the semi final stage of the Japan Top 12.
Mens Singles
The Men's Singles final was spectacular with the game going to a full seven sets! Taku Takakiwa overcame Hidetoshi Oya and clinched the Men Singles title with scores: 3-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-7, 6-11, 10-12, and 11-8. The full match can be seen here:
Womens Singles
In the final of the Womens Singles Masako Wakamiya overcome Saki Tashiro in a six game thriller to win 4-2 with scores: 11-6, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9. Video below:
