Multiball please

Hey all! Whenever I read a post on problems during multiball I laugh as tears of sadness roll down my face.

My coach is 82, he's been playing for 70 years, and plays a hella lot like Waldner. He's good at drilling when he's just blocking, but he gets a bit competitive when it comes to drills like Falkenberg; he won't just place the balls on the corners, he'll block them to the sides of the table.

That's great and all, BUT he doesn't do multiball because he thinks it's just for developing a certain stroke for beginners. (Eg. Fh hit)

How do I get him to drill me with proper multiball? I've tried a couple of months back, but now I think my stroke is solid enough to do multiball.

Sad thing is that delivering multiball is a technique in and of itself. He may not be able to do it well. And it is not just being able to deliver the balls, it is knowing just how much and how hard to push the student.

Not easy.

Any way for me to supplement multiball? I do have a robot at home. The nearest actual club with coaches is 1hr away with good traffic

That speed. Amazing.
That was totally incredible. Thanks for sharing, Ilia.
But i'm not sure if ZJK is human. :)

DoctorPaco, a robot is a good thing, but without a well developed solid technique or a coach watching and correcting the chances are quite high that some bad habits sneak in.
Maybe you could try to find time to go to the club every now and then. I guess it's gonna be worth it.

Have any friends who are training partners? You could each practice learning to feed multiball on each other. It is not easy to do. It will take a while to be decent at it. But it will still be good training and worth the effort.

I do think ZJK's coach is one of the best and most evil multiball feeders in the universe!!! Definitely the Yoda of multiball. Or perhaps a mix of Yoda and the Sith Lord.

Problem is my only training partner is my coach and one other guy who works at a call-center so when he does play he prefers matches or drills where he attacks.
All the others there are unorthodox "older" players who just game.

Oh. Okay. I understand.

If you think that ZJK is inhuman, watch Li Xiaoxia...

I wasn't referring to ZJK, I was actually referring to the coach feeding the balls. He feeds a mean multiball. The interval between balls is shorter and the randomness is much more intense from that little, old, bald guy who seems to be able to hold 50 balls in his off hand at a grab. Hahaha.

I would take either of their multiball feeders, but the guy feeding ZJK multiball is more evil. Hahaha.

@Ilia: Unbelievable. That's close to lightningspeed. Is that really real?

Protip: Film all your sessions, if you do them solo.

You can then avoid bad things.

Of course, a requirement for this is having a very deep understanding of the game, to even spot said bad things.

Filming CAN be good, but some people tend to deny the truth, even if t's right in their face.
I once filmed one of our youngsters to show him his T-Rex Topspin (the syllable Top is a little misplaced here)
and all he did was being proud being caught on film....

You are right. And of course all the top players on CNT are a bit super-human. Li Xiaoxia is definitely the bionic table tennis woman. Hahaha.

Absolutely true. :D

Very impressive how they move. ZJK could be "the flash" in one of the next marvel productions.
;)
I feel blitzed.
But you're still right. That coach must have Jedi skillz.

Hahahahaha. I've been watching videos of that guy feed multiball for years, and I know, when I try, as I reach in the bucket I can get two, three, four, sometimes five. When he does it, his hand looks like a cluster of balls. Sometimes you can't even see his hand.

I am always amazed by how many he can grab and how short the interval is between balls as he is feeding.

If I could have that guy feed me multiball for 1 hour a day 6 days a week, I think I would be very a very happy dude. Of course I would probably bore the hell out of him with how slow I am. But, that would be fun as hell.

IF you are really desperate, people who don't play can learn to feed good multiball - it just takes some training and practice.

Just bear in mind that you might have to drop some cha-ching to get people to learn to feed and to feed you multiball if they don't play.
