Xu Xin uses Stiga Intensity NCT, so does Zhu Yuling. I've seen Ding Ning, Li Xiaoxia, Mu Zi, Fan Zhendong, and probably some others use Stiga blades. Most of them are indeed wood blades. If they use carbon, most of the time its ALC. So as a general rule then perhaps the commentator has a point. Although if you're good enough to play like Ma Long or Zhang Jike then perhaps it doesn't matter what blade you use.

xu xin is penhold so it doesn't really count.
they all use 5 ply blades, like wang hao, ma lin.
so to me he's out of the question.

all the others are girls, who play a different style so they don't count either.

fan zhendong it has been semi-established that he uses a viscaria with stiga handles.

sorry not trying to spoil the party, it's just the facts.

Dude, what is the point by saying girls have different game and are not be considered? I sense male chauvinism here. Quite sexist, to be truthful. And penholders play with 5 ply wooden blade, that's given. Have you seen other players with penhold grip, what blade do they use? Just wow!

what? that's a new one. what is the name?
As per my signature - Stiga Contra Super Carbon. If you Google that, there are some photos of the blade out there. I've no idea what woods were used but they are very dark, almost mahogany in colour. The blade is quite thin in comparison to more recent blades.

Kuka, you're such a freakin' troll. Not everone thinks your sense of humour is actually funny. But that's your business, if no one takes you seriously anymore.

TTFrenzy: JHB is quite right. STIGA has been producing carbon blades already in the late seventies of last century.

To whom it may concern:

Here's an interview (in german) with Mats Bandstigen (CEO of STIGA) before he passed away.

http://www.mytischtennis.de/public/buntes/4788/stiga-geschaeftsfuehrer-bandstigen-im-mytt-interview

And here's an interesting thread on another Forum about STIGA Blades from the late 30s/early 40s when STIGA started in the biz until nowadays. The Guy that started that thread is a well respected player who has been ej-ing in the 1980s and also seems to know Robert Palatinus from OSP. The thread is mostly in german but Uwe also speaks fluently english. Every now and then there is an english spoken question in that thread.
But the thread is from 2006 and reaches till last month (June 2016). It is containing 178 (!!) pages.
Go and educate yourself and have fun reading.
