As usual my body is breaking down again. My scapula tendinitis flared up for the second time this year, so i have been out since early october. With this injury, i have to rest a minimum of two months, it did flare up early this year and i rested only about 6 weeks and was too eager to get back...then played 3 straight Saturday training sessions...then the tendinitis came back like a bat out of hell(Meatloaf reference...:D)...Now i have been resting for close to month and a half, and the tendinitis is about 75 percent healed. Shooting for early January to come back. Sucks to get old:( Still love reading the Chit Chat thread:D

Sorry to hear - that stuff sucks. I play through mine and I can only wonder what time bombs I have set for myself as I get older.

Here is my first Karis review after using it for 2-3 weeks and playing some of my best TT with it.

This is a solid rubber - I don't think a huge Tenergy rubber fan will like it, and I am not sure how well it compares to Airoc Astro M and S, which I suspect are closely related. In fact, when I read the reviews of Astro M and S, I laughed because the way I felt about the M spinning better than the M+ in some ways which many people seem to find for the Airoc saying the S is better than the M.

The topsheet is harder than the usual rubbers, make it less bouncy and great for pushing. The rubber is extremely direct and precise - you can pretty much aim the ball exactly where you want it to go and control the arc. I think some people who like aspects of OVA or similar hard sponged rubbers will like both the M and M+. There is good but not strong catapult but the balance fits my game very well as I like to take good swings at the ball.

The topsheet grip is excellent - similar to the OVA and Tenergies with little slippage. The arc is lower than modern rubbers but easier to control. People who like to play with extreme brush will actually like this rubber as the feeling of brush is what it is designed to support. It doesn't have the easy spin of Tenergy but the spin you get is definitely what you asked for and the way from the table looping is pretty precise. It takes some practice to get some of the arcs that you might be used to from high throw rubbers, but you can get them, you just have to create them. IT reminds me of Joola Rhyzm (the original) or Tibhar Aurus.

Again, since I have major short game and over the table issues with Tenergy, this has been a major improvement for me. I don't think this will be true for everyone. Also, people who have used Airoc Astro may not find much of a difference, but I have. I have had great results playing with both the M and the M+, better results with the M, but still great results with both. If you are someone who used a slower blade because you hated the bounciness of Tenergy, this could have you using a faster blade again (I have gone back to true OFF-/OFF blades as my short game and blocking have improved with this rubber).

The M is ighter and I don't think you are missing much if you pick it over the M+, but that is just me. I use both interchangeably without losing sleep, putting the M+ on my lighter blades and the M on my heavier blades.

The rubber is only $50 from Nexyusa.com. Feel free to give it a try and if control issues are what holds you back, definitely look into this. I do get heavy spin with it (no one has told me recently that my spin game has suffered - one of my practice partners said that initially because of the lower arc but he still blocks my loops off the table.)

REcommended for loopers who like the feeling of hard topsheets and precise control.

Well, I think, in late December or early January we may need to do another goon squad adventure and drag Der and NL up this way and meet them part way at Lily Yip TTC.

What say the goon squad members?

i'm game if mrs osph is ok with it and family has nothing scheduled ... as it's not 42&bp club and in nj, it's a longer trip and i'll probably carpool with 42&bp in his car or my car and if you or others in nyc area need a ride, and i'm driving, i can pick up

EDIT: just chatted with 42&bp ... he may be out... depends on if he's healed or not, told him to just show up and trash talk lol

I largely concur and have found the M version on my new on market Rubicon to be the best setup to handle incoming topspin with ease. A 30 percent response to a medium or fast skinny loop is all that is needed to send back a heavy topspin ball. A softer grip at impact gives even more control vs a Rambo loop. Amazing, best setup ever for that stroke situation and opening topspin is still Der_Echte heavy.

I like how Dan does his dynamic tests and want to hear from him.

I switched to this rubber THREE DAYS before a major tourney and did well. That says a lot.

Like NL and others said, one has to test for self to know what works for self and not everyone is same. However, the points mentioned give enough data for one to understand what the rubber does well and not.

$50 USD for one sheet of a modern rubber that suits your game is average to slightly below average price. I personally have always used a less expensive rubber on BH to save money to use a good modern rubber for fh wing.

I switched to the rubber just before the Butterfly teams as well. I beat a 2100+ legend, and had many good matches that could have gone either way. I switched to faster blade after the Teams to take advantage of improved control and I have since then beaten a 2200+ I hadn't been able to beat in a year at the league, and a 2250+ kid I have not beaten in a tournament in probably 3 years since he broke 2000.

But I can't advertise the rubber that way and what it fixed for me may not be a problem for other people.

Last night had CPR training (mandatory for sport club officers at our university). Afterward played with the other officer who didn't bring his raquet. I let him use my primary while I used my long pip on one side setup. When I'd get off the table I'd use the long pips on my forehand and do a Full stroke. It looked like a loop that was just moving slowly (like a spinny loop). but it was really just gravity bringing it down giving it the arc that you'd expect from a loop. Facinating to watch the way it dipped. I've never personally seen someone use long pips off the table doing a looping stroke and it was pretty exciting for me.

I don't want to spam the board so I thought I'd put this in chit chat.

Hopefully I've built up a good enough reputation along with some of you to "give me a pass" on this one but our table tennis club, which I help operate, essentially does not have any way, that the parks & rec department will easily allow for us to raise funds for the purchase of new tables.

So we have decided to start a gofundme page. We are based in Lincoln, Nebraska. I thought I would pass this along for anyone interested in hearing our story.

https://www.gofundme.com/help-support-lincoln-table-tennis?ssid=830673598&pos=1

If you're not interested and don't want to see this stuff, don't worry, it was a one time deal.

Thanks, Suds.

That is pretty much what he did last year.

Remind him that we will stop off in Chinatown, go to Hop Shing and get pork buns for the road. I think that will make him forget he has an injury! I've heard they have some of the best pork buns in the USA! [emoji2]

My bet is, wouldn't want to miss the after club, hang out, dinner either. [emoji2]

Just in case he's forgotten last year's festivities:

If you do move to the left coast, I expect to see footage of you knocking the ball around with Cookie Monster, oops, I mean ttmonster, real soon.

If you are a registered club with the USATT, you can get tournament tables after a major tournament at a huge discount from Butterfly or Joola. Nebraska isn't easily close to anywhere, but it might be worth visiting a major tournament to make the purchase and accept the shipping bill.

Would recommend you make a separate thread as well and spam the board as not everyone looks at the chit chat.

Despite being a BH man?

His BH is so good he has been known to glue/staple a banana peel onto his BH and still loop anything with monster spin. Lord help us if he used a top end spin demon on his BH.

Bro, your rep is good in my book. I'm sympathetic as i also play in a dept of parks rec ctr also.

Unfortunately, i won't be able to contribute a whole lot, but i'll chip in something.

Thank you for this opportunity!

Good luck with the campaign!!
