What Happened to Miu Hirano?

After the Asian Championships in 2017, Miu Hirano has been in an ever increasing losing streak. At first it was mostly against Chinese players, but nowadays she seems to lose to pretty much everyone. One would think winning the ATTC would gain her more confidence, but so far it's been the complete opposite. It's has been really depressing and frustating to see her in this state, anyone knows the cause for her downfall?

No idea, I wonder if here success at the Asian Championship in 2017 hindered here progress, I mean too much TV show participations etc. after this epic win against several chinese players. He may have lost his focus for table tennis since then.

This is the "imitating list" for Chinese women team after Miu won the asian Championship in 2017.
The first line is Miu. The team arranged four players SunYingsha, WangManyu, ChenXingtong, LiuMing to imitate Miu for other team players to practice with.

Miu being top of the list plus most people imitating her, You can understand how well she was "studied" after the game.

Why so impatient?
It's not unusual that after a peak there comes a low. No one stays at the top forever.

Good coaches know how to prepare a player to peak, so it's not unlikely that the next peak is still yet to come and that we'll see more fantastic tabletennis from this beautiful young girl.

Remember, next year is gonna be the biggest tournament of them all.

This hasn't been your usual low though, she's been like this for a year and a half. You could call me impatient if i was posting this thread like a month or two after her Asian Championships win.

She’s still very young, and growing up is not a process of monotonic increases Neither physically nor mentally. It’s a turmoil at times, and unpredictable too.

This goes for all. I don’t expect an ininterrupted curve upwards for Harimoto, and Mima Ito has also suffered through lesser times. As has Pitchford. As did Waldner.

What Hirano is going through is psychological in nature, as opposed to technical and tactical. She is aware but she just can't get over it.

Curious....
JTTA published the compositions of the men's and women's teams for the World Championships Liebherr 2019 ITTF ...
Ishikawa,Ito,Hirano,Sato Hitomi

Who will play in WD and in XD ?

Perhaps they will add one more man and another woman later?

(Asian Cup 2019, 4/2019 - Ishikawa,Hirano...)

The 5th and last members will be determined in the 1st stage of Japan Top-12. Doubles and Mixed will be determined by the board.

JTTA says the lineup will be heavily tilted toward those who are internationally competitive and have the most potential of beating CNT, where yours truly pointed out over 2 years ago.

Given only 2 pairs per NOC,

Ito/Hayata will take 1 spot for WD, 100%. Ishikawa/Hirano or Hirano/Hayata will probably get the other spot. The former pair is more likely given the higher doubles ranking(23 vs 34 as of 02/19);

Ishikawa/Yoshimura should take 1 spot for XD, mostly for being the defending champions and hence sponsorship pressure. Ito and Morizono will likely get the other.
