With Ding Ning's shot of the year last year (2011), we may have already found the best shot of 2012! And unsuprisingly Jan Ove Waldner hit this impressive shot at the recent Swedish National Championships 2012!

Not a bad shot, but it's quite early to call it the shot of the year. I'm sure there will be many better.

You are probably right , but just that there is a slim chance it would be a 47 year old doing it . This one kind of reminds me what JSK did last year with his long pips around the net shot ....

Very true :).. I'm sure it will be a contender. Reminds me of Joo Se Hyuks shot as mentioned by ttmonster :)

Fantastic, Waldner at his best ;)

But I am sure that if anyone had the final of the Norwegian tournament "Siddistreffen" from 2010 on tape, the shot of the year would have been from that match. It was between Allan Bentsen and Espen Roenneberg. On the matchball, Allan Bentsen is far away from the table, lobbing the ball. Espen is looping it back. Then, BANG! Allan Bentsen lets the ball drop almost down to the floor, then he fires a crazy backhand loop with so much spin that it hits only just over the net and its flying away before Espen could react!

I was there, it was amazing :p Didn't look possible to do, but he did it!

But past is past.. I hope he's coming to Norway this year too :)

Great shot, shot of the year I doubt just because there are so many younger players that will do newer things. Let's all be honest here J.O. hitting a shot like that is nothing new and neither surprising seeing as his game has always been about touch. The other reason being that of all the games he's played and with him not training at all his touch shots have been what he's been relying on.

But would you manage to do the same thing in a competition like that Mr.RicharD ?? ;)

The shot is amazing, and I find it more amazing than Samsonovs backhand smash last year.. So that means it has to get on the list, compared to the shots made last year :)

A fantastic shot from one of the greatest players to ever live! That he has amazed us before is a silly reason to belittle this highlight. For any of the rest of us, the shot of a lifetime. :) For Waldner it is 'icing on the cake'. What great competitive spirit that he still seeks the podium after so many years.
