So, I’ve played twice with G09C (FH) and Glazer (BH)
Yesterday I played a league match, won 2 and lost 1, so it was straight in at the deep end with a new set up!!! I haven’t been playing particularly well since Xmas, and was pleased to pick up the 2 wins!!
Tonight we had a 2 hour match play session, 2 groups of 6 players. Play games for 15 mins then swap opponent, so you get to play everyone in your group, then ’Mingle’ with players from the other group. I was in the lower standard/level group, local league standard, the higher level group is premier local league players, that also play in tournaments fairly regularly. 1 player recently took the scalp of a guy ranked 15 or 16 in England Vetts. So these players can play a bit!!
PLEASE REMEMBER, THIS IS A PERSONAL OPINION. I HAVE POSTED MATCHES ON THE ‘How did I win or lose a match thread’ MY LEVEL OF PLAY IS INTERMEDIATE, AS NL LIKE TO SAY ‘adult learner’!!! REGULARS ON THE FORUM WILL KNOW MY LEVEL
There was not much to get use to really, I don’t mean that in a bad way!!! I’ve played with quite a lot of different rubbers over the last 3 - 4 years, especially during the COVID lockdowns. I got what I was expecting in general terms.
G09C
I haven’t got D09C for a direct comparison, last time I used it was about 2yrs ago.
I would say that G09C is a little slower, slightly less bouncy than D09C, G09C is therefore a tad easier for me to control.
looping / loop drives felt much better with G09C, I remember playing with D09C and thinking “I’m not really feeling that I am looping well”
Spin production is high, as good as D09C.
Short game was good, easy control of low input pushes, the spring sponge x does kick in a bit (but not as much as Glazer) when you put more force into longer pushes, so care is still needed, which is typical of these spring sponges.
Serving was good, spin variation easy.
Didn’t do much blocking with FH!!!
open ups v back spin good
Glazer
Pretty much the same story if compared to T05!!!!!
BH top spin was nice, open ups v backspin spinny. Pushes a little more care is needed, spring sponge x is more noticeable because of the lack of (what little) tackiness G09C has!!!
If you were looking for a more comprehensive write up on these rubbers. Well sorry, but there is no need to.
Higher level players will notice the differences between G09C/D09C Glazer/T05 more than myself. BUT for their bucks, they may opt for the cheaper option ??!!
If you use D09C or T05 (Tenergy series and Dignics series in general) and are an intermediate level, league player, I feel that G09C and Glazer COULD play better than D09C / T05 for you. At a MUCH CHEAPER PRICE POINT.
If the durability is as good as D09C / T05, and knowing Butterfly, it is likely this will be the case.
So, I paid €44,( it’s listed at £44 in UK)
Dignics is €/£ 79.99
Tenergy €/£ 59.99
a sheet of Glazer / G09C is about 55% of the price of Dignics (45% cheaper) and about 73% the price of Tenergy (27% cheaper)
Does G09C / Glazer have a drop in performance of 45% compared to Dignics?? NO, NO NO no f*****g way!!!
Does G09C / Glazer have a drop in performance of 27% compared to Tenergy?? NO NO NO no f*****g way!!!
Glazer series is a Bargain, pure and simple.
