I remember when Hirano Miu broke through, the CNT immediately started training up copy players to mimic her timing and rhythm.

There is the Asia vs the rest of the world thing coming up led by Waldner and Ma Long.

Of course, not saying that's an easy thing to do. In fact, other than WCQ no one can consistently take ML to the rally game. Idk how WCQ can be do damn good at receiving ML's services.

As for the Chiquita everywhere strategy, idk if you paid attention to Wang Hao's advice to ML about that. It's really pretty simple, serve short to the FH side, and if Felix starts to Chiquita it then just jam him long "顺势拱他一下".

That's exactly what ML did. Coming out of that time out ML served short to Felix's FH which Felix pushed short and ML won. Then Felix had 2 serves, and when ML serves again Felix Chiquitas and ML returns it deep to his BH for a winner.

At a later time out, I think it was ML's time out, I think WH also revealed that he considers the BH to be Felix's weaker side, so that's clearly something he'd like to attack. He also cautioned ML to focus on placement rather than finishing the point right away, and ML wrapped up the game by a relatively weak attack of a Felix popup to the deep FH corner.

Almost every player is vulnerable short on his FH. I don't know how this comes about but many players don't seem to have practised on short play balls on the FH.
Some examples, D. Ovtcharov cannot push on his FH > uses his BH push for this. Harimoto does have a great FH flip but usually opts to use his BH. I rarely if ever see a tactically short placed push from the FH.

The one thing that Ma Long did clearly on a different level was that he anticipated and killed Felix's topspin serves. Felix gets into rallies with a lot of those but here he was just seeing the ball put past him. I used to wonder how Felix could get away with serving so much long topspin and Ma Long just showed it was about how well other players could handle it, not that it was inherently smart.

There is even a technical term for it in Chinese. 正手小三角/FH small triangle, that is the shakehand equivalent of 反手小三角/BH small triangle for penhold. Inherent weakness of the two grips, respectively.
