How does Lin Yun Ju with a such a strong backhand make it even stronger? It is a reminder to double down in your strengths and stop over thinking your weaknesses.

his backhand has always been a killer, but what makes him triumph this time was the sheer improvement in his forehand. Now he can pretty much score points on both wings

It just shows you that every player have a life cycle
There will always be an end.
Ma Long will only get more defeatable as the days continue.
Whether or not CNT next star can rise up, shouldn't be Ma Long's problem.
But for him staying on for 2 years longer was partial that and the monetary incentives

He is really struggling.. it is a bit sad as it is difficult for him to prove more than what he has already achieved

I was impressed by his touch in broken play situations. Some nice spin and placement in his pushes and blocks. There's that one BH block he does that lands near the opponent side net and just fades off the table (did an even better on against WCQ).

Another thing I noticed is how good he is at saving balls that clip the net. Most players make some sort of stutter adjustment that lessens the ball quality. He plays them with no interruption in his form whatsoever. I don't think I've ever seen anyone play net balls as smoothly.

ML has always had a hard time against LYJ and Harimoto, if you will.

The draw was favorable to China at Tokyo 2020, had Ovtcharov faced FZD and LYJ faced ML instead, the results could've been very different. Ovtcharov and LYJ haven't been exactly the same for the Paris 2024 period but the former has beaten FZD and the latter has beaten ML, and on top of that Harimoto and the Lebrun brothers are set to become the next obstacles, ML is no longer the go-to choice.

The fact that Harimoto revealed in an interview after WTTC 2022 that he wanted to play ML shows he is not afraid of him (WCQ is the one he has the hardest time).

There was one point I saw him cho, it was so quiet you had to see his lips to know he was choing lol.... that was the first time I had ever noticed it clearly though.
