WTTC 2018
HKG 2-3 Sweden
M1 overrated WCT 3-1 Jon Persson
M4 overrated WCT 3-1 Kristian Karlsson

Compared to SYB, that is a well-earned Asian Games 2022 MS bronze medalist.

I think Wong Chun Ting is one of the greatest and most inspirational stories in TT history.

Did you read the article that the Japanese journalist wrote about how we imposed stories on the athletes based on press releases and assumptions that paint an inaccurate picture of what it is like to be on the Japanese team?
no havent seen it

All these heroes who took 2 matches in vain and the team lost 2-3
These heroes goes home with 0 ranking point awarded.....and i'm sure they tried SO HARD

This is when I miss the old teams world ranking system, where you win points per win, and not where your team finishes (only up to 5 teams will walk away points, with team 4 and 5 getting a joke of a total number I wont mention)

Looking forward to TPE vs Japan now

Kao vs Harimoto coming up first

a repost from a shared WR comparison
31 vs 9
8 vs 74
35 vs 33
8 vs 9
31 vs 74

very close contest.
Harimoto needs to win 2 and probably a bit more pressure on his shoulders than with Lin

JPN vs TPE
Harimoto 3-0 Kao Cheng-Jui
G3 51, 1010, 1011, 1311
Harimoto off to a slow start in G1 but likely wanted to assess Kao's BH. Kou Shouei played decently but his unique BH got shut down by Harimoto.
Shinozuka 2-3 LYJ
The momentum switched after 4:4 in G2 and G3 when LYJ served that high toss heavy side-backspin. Shinopi somehow found his way back to force G5.
Matsushima 3-2 CCY
G2 810 dead net for Matsushima, 910 TO for CCY, 1010 dead net for Matsushima, 1011, 1111, 1113
Harimoto 2-2 LYJ
G4 24 Hari Punch showed up once again after how many years?, 26, 47, 67, 68, 78 knuckle breaker from Harimoto and ump checking LYJ's FH rubber, 710 Harimoto missed the FH 3rd ball, 711
G5 20 Harimoto received with 2 pushes in a row, 80, 82, 92, 93, 113

Kao's fh is weak so it's nice if Harimoto can capitalize on that.
Regarding this match, the pressure on Matsushima is quite large since Shinozuka has a low chance of winning Lin
yeah,
in fact the 3 youngs ones there today favour BH more than FH, with maybe Feng having the stronger of the 3.
but with Lin, FH can be mastered later on too.

Kao did go down with a fight with 2 deuce games.
at 19 years old, if his FH can become better, he could become a solid WR20 player

I envision both Feng and Huang to be 20/30 too and then to wait for the younger (leftie) Kuo Guan-Hong to join Lin and co when Chuang retires.
You would have 2 leftie and 3 righties, with Lin the oldest of the lot. That should be a strong TPE team for the next 10 years. A team that Chuang never had.

Lin age 22
Kao age 19
Feng age 21
Huang age 21
Kuo age 15

IIRC, LYJ seems to have a harder time against lefties (LYJ 1 H2H 2 LJH, last 2 going to LJH). JPN probably would've have fielded Shinozuka even if Togami was healthy (Togami 0 H2H 2 LYJ). The last time LYJ lost to a JNT player is Mizutani (lefty again) in 2020.

Pota is taking Sreeja Akula apart. Pota ran out of breath after 2-0 but still managed to close it out 3-2.
Madarasz also took apart Akula.

You can give points for misbehavior. The yellow card is not necessary, it is just an opportunity for the umpire to give a warning. You don't even have to warn a player before faulting them.
If you give a point for misbehaveour you get «not meet» on your evaluation, flunk your assesment, and you don’t get any more matches. No option in the law, straight forward what is point, let and warning. Pretty good advice in the FAQ too.

Can Matsushima prevent the following scenario from happening?
KSA: Where is Messi?
TPE: Where is Togami?
Matsushima: Yes.

Did anyone watch the 5th match of Sweden women vs Singapore? Ended with some kind of protest from kallberg after she missed a receive at 9-10 after being up 10-5. Like she complained the SGP woman was talking or smth? I couldn't believe the umpire awarded her the match and the entire team match for what seemed to be nothing.

There was a high disturbing scream. Correct descision is let and yellow. Point to Sweden is impossible. SGP should have called the referee (wrong interpretation of the law), and the game would resume at 9-10.
