JPN: Where's LYJ?
TTD: Where's TensorBackhand?

LYJ isn't like himself.
as of recent, TB has anti/LP agenda priority over TH priority

when TH looses to a low ranked player, TB will come back for sure.
there is enough stats now on TTD to use big data to work out the future

Did anyone watch the 5th match of Sweden women vs Singapore? Ended with some kind of protest from kallberg after she missed a receive at 9-10 after being up 10-5. Like she complained the SGP woman was talking or smth? I couldn't believe the umpire awarded her the match and the entire team match for what seemed to be nothing.
i think Zhou felt her serve will go off the table, so just about when the ball is on the "white line", you could hear the start of a disturbing scream from her, since if it goes off, she and Singapore would have loss.

But the ball was in, and Kallberg struck the ball off afterwards and immediately complained about noise from Zhou.
The immediate reaction was similar to that of seeing a edge ball, where one will just have reaction instantly/naturally and without thinking. So it felt like that Kallberg was affected from the noise very early on and her reaction followed naturally.

So Chuang couldn't take one
TH took 2.
LYJ played below par (he almost lost both)

This is likely Taipei's strongest team on paper to face Japan in recent years.
Just hope TPE gets stronger in the next few years and can be the number 2 country in teams, after China.

how so, because he started a couple years later than most? Bit of an exaggeration
In a sport where most top players are encouraged and groomed within training programs for professional or college aspirations by winning all the junior tournaments, it is always nice to see a player who just plays his way onto the team based on interactions with strong players without seeing himself that way in the first place. I am okay with the exaggeration.

The Japanese team showed no mercy at all to the South African players. I think they will remember this match

There was a high disturbing scream. Correct descision is let and yellow. Point to Sweden is impossible. SGP should have called the referee (wrong interpretation of the law), and the game would resume at 9-10.
Okay. Are you a trained umpire by any chance?

If you give a point for misbehaveour you get «not meet» on your evaluation, flunk your assesment, and you don’t get any more matches. No option in the law, straight forward what is point, let and warning. Pretty good advice in the FAQ too.
Okay. You can ask an international umpire about it. Misbehavior that affects opponent's play can be penalized without a warning, it is a judgment of intent and severity. There is no requirement to call a point where someone interferes with the ability of an opponent to play a let.

Japan's women showed no mercy at all to South African players...
Miu HIRANO must have established a record today...
Yeah, I was just talking to SA women's number 1 few mins ago
2 of them played against Japanese players in Durban 2023 and it wasn't that bad

SA number 1 totaled 9 points, while the other 2, totaled 6 points over 6 games

With courtesy point gone, I am waiting for 33-0 games and Miu almost did it today lol

Well, all I can say, SA wasn't meant to take part at all.
Tunisia pulled out, and the 1st reserve also (Mauritius)
I'm not expecting SA to win again games in Busan

One of the players i'm helping (Rochica Sonday, 15 years old) didn't make the WTTTC team, but is going to the African Games after a lot of "fighting" for her to be included.
SA has some outdated policy that a junior can only play in her age group + 1 age group up.
So Rochica being good enough to be in the women's team, is not old enough to do so... but in league matches and other tournaments, she has wins against all of the women's team players and many of them in straights.

I have been advising many people who have voting powers that you need to have 14~16 years olds national champions, as the previous par is set too low. Need to raise the levels like what Japan has done and the policy of not allowing young talent to play in senior open is flawed.
Some times you just can't fix these outdated mentality as they like to stay with policys that are older than me.

I atleast am trying to tell them to allow national team juniors to play in all categories, as a perk for making national junior team.... I think that should be a nod on most peoples head here?

I hoping her club and I can raise funds for her to come train in Taiwan. Its basically airfare of around USD1500 x 2 (her and an adult, there is a good chance the adult can self fund) + "very little" spending money in Taiwan. I should be able to get her free accommodation and training at the top training center in the country.
one of the TPE national players has already donated new playing equipment for her :)

So hopefully Rochica will be one for the future.
Jade Sasman (who took 2 points against Miu to prevent a whitewash) was actually a top prospect when she was 14 year old too, but she left the sport very early (can't remember the age), and another player I helped 10 years ago also left around the age of 19 years old. Both to become moms..... the one I helped went to play a year in Paris before retiring to become a mom and work, and is now an airforce pilot. So I'm pretty happy she is flying high.

I hope Rochica is in a better environment to not be in the same path in terms of table tennis (this is a disadvantage of females athletes in a way)
It isn't easy in tough neighborhoods

I just think the decision was extreme. Kallberg was obviously losing her composure as she blew 10-5 lead. The match appeared headed to 5th set. To end the entire team match by awarding a point for an unintentional outburst on a serve that wasn't returned is BS, imo.

I understand how you feel. It isn't how the umpire interpreted it and the umpire was justified in their interpretation. It wasn't the umpire's fault that it was match point at 2‐2 in the team match when the incident happened.

This is the exam training for IU-exam. Should be a rather easy call. The only thing the umpire must to is to descide if it isa a disturbance or not.

Two options: Point to SGP, or "let" and yellow. Point to SWE is not supported by the law.

Is there a link to the live stream for that match (LIVE! | T8 | Day 2| ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals Busan 2024 | SGP vs SWE (F))? I cannot seem to find it on WTT's channel.

Hayata: Yes, I have
Mizutani: Miu-chan, too?
Hirano: Yes
Mizutani: Have you read it?
Ito: I don't know where it is
Mizutani: Hey, I'm sure I have sent it to your home
Ito: I absolutely won't read it. Absolutely not. I don't want to. Not when forced to. But my mom has probably read it...

Reposting from post #141:

Thank you! Unlike every other video/livestream from this tournament, WTT marked this one as "unavailable in your country" (UK in my case). Never mind, connected via VPN to a USA gateway.
