only in a good day that they can play 150% only so they can beat the top Chinese. In a normal day it's pretty much one sided
beat the top chinese
or beat the two top chinese
history has a big difference on this

And LSS does it!

@TensorBackhand @longle I get your guys argument that on any individual day, variance can give you good results. But don't you guys think it's a little coincidental that the Korean team suddenly looks competitive with the Chinese team when they are comfortable at home, enjoying crowd support, and likely have an ideal training situation for this specific event?

I think this speaks to what @Tony's Table Tennis has always been talking about. Yes, the Chinese team have the best players and the best results. But part of their success may be due to how well they are able to replicate 'being at home' even when they are on the road. This includes preferential table time and always finding a way to stack a crowd in their favor in some random BRICS country where there's otherwise zero audience. When almost every WTT event around the world is full of Chinese ladies cheering for you, it does feel like a bit of an advantage.

Not at all. Home court advantage is pretty well known phenomenon in all sports.

For the Seoul Olympics, Korea situated many of the top players from opposing countries stay far away from the TT Hall. Also had some humid conditions for playing. Completely accidental that they won gold and silver in men's singles at that event. Yes, completely accidental.

Can't believe I'm cheering so much on Korea
aged Ma Long tried his best

I've said this is one of the most vulnerable CNT ever, and the bench quality isn't any better
It's one of the problems of having oppressive GOAT level talents like ML or FZD. They can't rotate in the new crop to get experience (Mima Ito style) in the bigger high pressure events out of respect for their stalwarts and otherwise face huge fan pushback. So the younger guys are sidelined and their growth is a bit more stunted that it would normally be. At some point they will have to replace ML and then FZD, and the only time that happens is if either gracefully steps aside or if they start having poor results.

This article talks about how ITTF wants to have table-ball-racket fair for all players

I laugh so loud, because we all know who is the only country in the world who has benefits on all 3.
It is only China.

Table - they get tables made, i've heard, up to a year prior.
Balls, months prior

Then I wasn't there in person in Durban, but I was very involved still. I have very reliable personal sources on how CNT is unfair and this got to do with table and balls too.

and now people wants an even playing ground. It won't happen, so for who ever can beat China, even if it is tensors backhand's unfair anti - well unfair beating unfair, that is fair haha
well, i doubt tensor backhand can ever survive 1 day of indian national team training and i'm not talking pips or anti, i'm talking, living the same day as a professional, then to decide if it is the rubbers doing the work or not.

who ever can beat CNT is not an easy one by luck
Beating a fallen apart LSW is maybe very lucky, but to beat WCQ and FZD in 2022, when both are on high form did require a super performance. And we have seen two very high performance Koreans today.

CNT has been very spoiled from resources for the past few decades.
team contingents in the 60s, while TPE can't even get to half that?
TPE can only get 20mins of table 1 and 20 mins of table 2 time on 19 May 2023, but China can have 5 x 20 mins. How do you explain that? how about all the smaller countries that doesn't even see table 1 or table 2 time?

I think TT is a mental game at the very least. The home court and the crowd cheering for you can give you a huge boost. The biggest tournaments I see mostly use DHS tables which is in favor of the Chinese.

But even at "home" the Koreans at the moment still having a very hard time.

Harimoto: Why didn't I have someone like Lee for Match 3 in Chengdu 2022?

Jang: its not easy beating 2 Chinese hey, because I played my heart away to win the first, and now I need to come and beat another one

Yeah Jang looks deflated for most of this match so far. Maybe used up too much of his mental energy on that first match.

FZD is only 27, he has maybe 2 to 4 years left.
Ma Long can't leave,
I had very good source from Beijing that he was meant to retire after Tokyo.
Someone, a lot of money came in to keep in playing, so at least there was a good reward for staying on.

But who in the CNT can push Ma Long out? no one

well, that's basically how the world works... if you are not favored then you have to try hardest, 150%, 200% to reach where you want :p isn't that right

many, many people watch the event because there is Ma Long. Like in my country, the amateurs watching the Chinese matches are much higher than the rest. That's much value he is, and I also want to watch him as long as he still plays

when the old goes, a new will come, and those fans will just change a name of their forehead.
Its been like that since day 1

no doubt Ma Long has value, but no doubt CNT has a replacement problem.
LJK and LGY isn't young either, so if FZD, LJK, LGY all leave before LA 2028, it will be WCQ left and some very little experienced 20 year olds

that is why, winning against 2 in the same "afternoon" is very difficult and history has shown that.
Now, lets see how this 23 year old WCQ handles under pressure.
Taking 3 off CNT is very very difficult and now the Korean's need all 3 players to take 1 or its game over
