@zeio the interview of Harimoto that you posted was spot on. He just had to wait for Ma Long and FZD to retire and his time would come.
just like Ma Long had to wait for a few to retire too
Miwa is maybe going to be the only one not needing to wait for anyone to retire, she could come young and knock them out.
The rest, had to just use young age and wait wait wait

So, CNT players haven't retired yet, they still need to play Chinese championships.

I guess finally someone (especially chinese fans) will agree with me that the schedule is packed beyond what is considered normal.

The top 30 players should only play the following:
4 x Smash
6 x Champion
WTTC/WTTTC call up
WTT finals if qualify
World Cups x 2
Continental cups/champs
National cups/Champs

that makes 16 major events a year.

then the 31~100 should player star contender, contender
+ Continental cups/champs + National cups/Champs, making it 16 events a year, maybe more if they also qualify for WTTC/WTTTC/WC etc

then 101 onward play that 50 Feeders in a year + other tournament,

I feel 16 events over 12 months is ideal. 20 is crazy, 24 is stupid

This is a fascinating and important time in TT history. Kudos to the successful players and coaches of Japan, Korea and Sweden who have been challenging China of late in the right way. To some extent I think the internet and Youtube has made it inevitable that Intelligent coaches from around the world would be able to copy and even surpass sometimes the efforts of the CNT. Not many secrets now in TT development.
I wonder what the reaction. from the Politicos within Chinese sport will be? Will they continue to back the CNT, or will they put more effort into other Sports?

I guess ERT will be running out of viewership soon, since there is no more secrets to CNT lol

Table tennis is dying in China.
The influx of kids going into the system has declined a great deal over the past 2 decades. Major economic hubs like Beijing and Shanghai, who used to develop some of China's best athletes are struggling to fill they provincial team roster and require to recruit from outside their territory. The likes of Shandong (another champion manufacturer) is struggling too.

We have seen CNT B team struggling on the world stage for the past 5 to 10 years.
We have seen CNT A team members who are struggling are not "retired" but are staying on, as there is no great threat coming from the younger ones to push them out.

It is always difficult to maintain number 1 as you become the target for everyone to over take, and all you can do is to defend.
In the past, CNT had the luxury of its vast professional system of players, so much that overflows are ending up in other countries.
But as the quantity reduce, the quality proportionally too.

CNT has tried to adapt to keep up with the modern era/conditions and have allowed marriage and parenthood for CNT players, while before it was a big taboo. They have implemented CNT C team to help strengthen the influx from provincial to national, but the problem is not at the top, it is at the grass roots.

I think money will always be there, the problem is the (great number of ) people is no longer there and CNT needs to face the reality like most countries - not enough players going into the system and/or not many wants to stay in the system (system is from 6 to 16 years old)

CM and SYS have been playing each other since 2017 so they know each other very very well and certainly do not need "AI" to beat each other. I wonder if the author is one of those toxic bitches who thinks it's cheating simply because CM played to her advantage/her teammate's weakness (that's common sense) and it worked (she's been using the same tactic for her life including Saudi Smash, except when she won at Saudi some people were too concerned about diminishing her win by saying it's all luck so they only start this terrible argument after OG games).
I understand the key point as: SYS’s personal data been fully captured, was supposed to be confidential, but be exposed.

Anyway, I don’t care what has happened, no matter how you win, you win; no matter how you lose, you lose. What I really worry about is the content of exercise physiology. I hope SYS could get good treatments, and withdraw the rest of tournaments in this year. It’s not easy, she needs some help from Team Hebei. The way CTTA uses her remind me a lot of players, ZJK, LSW…

People stick AI into all kinds of BS ro make it sound more credible, in the end the argument is only as good as the evidence for it.

Indeed, that’s one of the reasons I don’t want to post that article here. I think I’m lack of the ability to identify it.

in older days, we just call that analysis
today it is called fancy names, but it is still studying your opponent, making notes (JNT girls and they note books lol).

tomorrow, they might even be some AI + version or AI PRO version, but still same thing. lol

Their coach didn't even come to the podium. That even spoke more loudly about the sentiments.
its like sour looser
not the first time seeing non gold medal getting removed before leaving
maybe its a culture and norm, but non-sportmanship imo

SYS only played 15 events this 12 months cycle
WMY 14
CM 14
WYD 15
CXT 12

Yuan 20
Miwa 19
Shin 20
Hayata 18
Cheng IC 17
Jeon 23
Bernie 18
Miu 16
Nina 15 (and she has been injured for how many months this cycle?)

It is clear CNT players play very little events compared to non CNT players,
SYS is tied max at 15 based on Top20 players

It is also very clear CNT players were dead tired at ATTC
just guess how tired (and injured) other countries players are, and so many demand for they retirement

I was told, you finish a match and within 5 mins, you need to head back down to your next match.... different event...

and this is on top of a back to back (with Smash)....

I mean, when the athlete has already received the message from his or her body alarm system, CNT’s support team should have the ability to identify it, and CTTA should stop pushing him or her to attend any tournaments before recovery.

Regarding

CNT players play very little events

I’m pretty sure you know why, the year of OG, they have the regular confined training season.

Yeah I gotta agree with that sentiment. I understand it sends a message to their fans and supporters that they are not happy with their performance and consider anything but gold a failure.

But I feel like some people can take that gesture as disrespect. There's a lot of players that would be very pleased to far in the tournament and medal. Treating silver and bronze medals like rubbish seems to diminish the efforts of other competitors.

Also, if you are invited to the organization's tournament, there's a level of decorum that should be expected. The whole point of the medal ceremony is to give weight to achievements and it's just gauche to spoil the illusion by making it about yourself.

yeah, I know why
and Europeans has league to attend to. for many weeks in Feb~April. so it isn't like the non CNT players were having holiday while CNT was in closed trainings. They still avg about 5 more events or rather 40 days more of tournaments.

Its been a crazy busy year, it isn't just CNT body alarm system going off.

I think for the sake of players health, they should stop all events for 2 to 3 months and let every player heal.
imagine, next year this time.... how many more will be injured if between now and next year, another 20 events gets into the picture.
