Huang YZ almost beat Harimoto. Just mental toughness improvement and he can surely take one of LGY or XP place in the A team
LGY isn't even in Singapore Smash....
so I won't be surprised he is the next to say he is "retiring from the world ranking." (A term invented in 2024 by CNT players).

Only Sora doesn't smile!
I don't smile either unless asked to, which I often am. The issue is not whether a person smiles or not, it is when you make it an Asian thing. Maybe it is, but i know lots of Asian players who have smiled on camera so it's weird to take that route. But maybe you bare right it is cultural.

Kao is very good in hiding his emotions
especially when playing or on the podium receiving rewards

I filmed him few months ago, I told him to smile, and he just did the same thing - no expression

I asked his coaches, and he said he is just like that, the cool no smile style

Of course some Asian people smile. I never said 100% don't smile. Also I never said something against Asian people but there is things you can distinguish on people gtom different regions. Like people on France eat frogs, in Korea eat dogs, Japanese people in general shorter than European, Irish people have red hears ... people in Russia btw also don't smile but again not 100%. For sure you will find someone who smile

on this subject
you have asians that over smile and with asian peace signs
and then you have those with no emotions and won't smile.

and there are a few of them from Kuo's team... Feng Yi-Hsin, Huang Yan-Cheng both pose quite serious with no smiles when on podiums.
and how about Chuang Chih-Yuan.... same
I find it that girls smiles more than boys, if we were to compare the mens team to womens team.

If LA 2028 turns out to be the Odo Cup like how Tokyo 2020 was Ito Cup, then Kuai Man is going hahaha

SXY did her job well. Huang Youzheng, still immature, didn't know what return to expect (waiting on FH and it went to his BH and vice versa), particularly toward the endgame. Also, he kept popping up those no-spin or weak backspin receives and could've received with his BH more instead (he did once and got the point outright).

WS SF
Odo is getting worse and worse. KM could've ended it in straight games. The only reason it seemed close is because of Odo's hidden serve.

That's why when you make it an Asian thing or a Russian thing, I am puzzled because there are so many cultures that have individuals that don't smile unless prompted to. And Sora has a very surly personality so it is just about him, not about Asians.

These TPE youngsters all look like 文弱書生, for lack of a better word. If they make the cut, they will probably end up like LYJ, deficient in power.

Any Harimoto doubters left out there? Current ranking (3) aside, it looks like he's taken the big step up from top 10-15 level to solid top 5. He's flipped his forehand from weakness to strength, but also his receive game is more precise with more variation. Can WCQ and LSD hold him off this year? Singapore should be interesting.
