Born 4 years too early. Kihara and Nagasaki never got all the chances "to fail" like Hirano, Hayata and Ito did to find out what works and what doesn't.

I'm not sure what you mean by never got all the chances to fail. They regularly play at ITTF/WTT tournaments... even more so than Odo who has only really been active as a senior starting in 2024 and worked her way up. It almost sounds like you're blaming the golden generation for being too good. But it's always been the case that the "young" have to prove at some point that they're better than the "old". Nagasaki has actually done very well this year. Kihara's results have been just okay... but a finals appearance and possibly champion here may be a good start.

This is Kihara's third WTT final this year.

Edit: Third time's the charm for Kihara!

Hitomi Sato puts on a masterclass on modern defense, and Satsuki Odo puts on a masterclass on playing against a modern defender:

Does any other current top player play drop shots as well and as often as Odo? She put on a clinic there in the first game and a half v Sato.

"Paris to Moscow express has arrived at the station"... 🤣

Who is the commentator, is that Dan?

Bro, Felix is from Montpelier.

Yeah that guy is not good. Tbh, not a fan of most of their commentators. Fraser Riley is S tier, Bobrow is B tier, and I'd rather listen to just match and crowd noise than any of the rest that WTT puts on the mic.

You're allowing your ego to write posts for you again.

You're allowed an opinion and others are allowed to dismiss it. Stop taking things personally.

You use the word "I" way too much in your comments.

I say this in good faith.
No, it is not my ego. It is how I choose to make fun of posters who go out of their way to be rude to other people. There are very polite ways to state disagreement. Saying that someone has no idea what he is talking about because he isn't from your country and can't discuss your countriy's national team is not one of them. That said, maybe you come from a culture with different norms.

She and Sato were teammates so she got quite a bit of practice. That Sato made it that competitive is to her credit

First time I seen Felix mad. I thought its just Alexis but both brothers get mad easily.
They both engage in emotional expressions. I think Felix may have to get injured to to realize it is not smart to take it to such extremes.

WTT really needs to explain these yellow cards better. Alexis got one coming back from his timeout, I concluded it was for his earlier screaming, but then Felix screams ever louder and hits the couch and gets nothing.

Anyway, good match from both

Has to be the fastest 7 game match ever?

Amazing pace, I wish both bothers had hit their peak form earlier and at the same time. It seemed more like a seesaw battle very often.

Felix hit the couch with his towel and was screaming just before it and no yellow card at all. Umpires aren’t consistent.

To those who complain about the bros serving too quickly, Waldner was even quicker: when you're dominating your opponent, don't let him recover, serve immediately. It's a duel in sports, not a chess game.

That was in the era of games to 21 with 5 serves each. Something from the 11 point era with 2 serves each would.be more relevant.

I proposed this idea as a possibility for LA 2028 and was told by a poster that because he is French and I am not, I do not understand France and prodigies in France don't get so good that fast, Felix excepted. So according to TTD experts, you may be as ignorant of France as I am.
I hope this poster can explain how Alexis, Coton, Poret, and Bardet did “not get that good so fast” lol.

@PoppaChubby

Over to you. Your main point was with regard to Coton and Poret being able to overtake Gauzy by 2028. Any amendments to your original position?

Thanks.
