I think ML scarred FZD so much that no one can really appreciate FZD the way I think he should be appreciated. Harimoto, I put an asterisk next to because by 18-19, it was clear that his technical and ball reading forehand issues were making him susceptible to lower rated losses. But FZD was a complete monster, he just couldn't scale the Ma Long hurdle. If he had won in 2017, TT history would have been very different.
I didn't know that there were people out there that didn't see FZD was a future great, but this site has introduced me to lots of opinions I didn't know existed lol

Matchpoint of LYJ/KCJ vs LSD/WCQ
Lol I thought it was the gamepoint winner for game 2 because WCQ did the same thing but they replayed the point.

Then he does it again at matchpoint game 3.

Agreed. Glad we see WCQ loosened up a little in the games, he took more risks, tried more strategies etc.
Off topic…but I love that quote from ML!

have to say the pairing of Lin and Kao is actually not bad.
now that Kao is no longer managed by Chuang, the pairing can actually work in the Olympics too.

Tokyo teams, Lin was supposed to pair with one of them, but someone from the Chuang camp didn't want to end the Chuang/Kao pairing against Japan.

Now Taiwan's OG teams format positioning can be more unexpectable..

Looks like Ding Ning and Zhu Yuling got together and had a baby in Kuai Man...
Ding Ning is actually doing some flag bearing duties at the Asian winter games
while ZYL is still playing competitively

KM continues to impress. While getting ahead 3-0 was great, I think bringing back Game 6 from 5-10 to 12-10 is an important sign of greatness as it demonstrates an unwillingness to concede a comeback.

Luckily books weren't too aware of tthis new KM as she was nearly a 2-1 underdog coming into the match.

Maybe I'm being silly, but I think Alexis has only one option to beat Lin - high balls candles

Harimoto, FZD, Felix, even at earlier ages, to name a few...
I wasn't watching FZD 11 yrs ago so I missed his introduction unfortunately but that sure is a favourable comparison for LSD. I suppose the similarities in their game are clearly there to see also 👍
Does anyone else think Liang Jingukn is playing particularly well?

Of course the next round will show whether that's the case or not but right now I have him reaching the final...
Gonna find out now if I was just imagining things or if LJK is really on top form 😁
