I think she played in the last contender. The CNT just has too much talent. Kuai Man got the wildcard spot over her, presumably by beating her in said tournament (3-2 in Muscat). If you left out KM in favor of SXY then you might have people crying about how the CNT doesn't value merit 🤭
KM won 3-2 in Doha but lost 0-4 in Muscat. As long as everyone knows the rules or when the choices were made. XS is now ranked 18, while He Zhuojia is now ranked 30, so it is more likely this was decided well before Muscat if we are pointing at performance.

Chen YuanYu and Huang YouZheng were given chances to play in the Singapore Smash because of their recent achievements. So who knows how and when CNT made their decision.
In my impression, KM has not had any good results until recent months. So obviously she is on the rise. If she can beat two top teammates on the way, she stands a chance against SYS in the final.

Those 2 are also juniors and I believe did well in Superleague. Kuai Man is on the rise for sure, but sometimes, the question is whether people know how you play well enough to deploy countermeasures. The one thing Sun Yingsha has in her favor is that she was Kuai Man's teammate in CSL.

CM was SYS's teammate as well. Maybe that is why CM beat SYS twice in Olympics. This teammate thing can be both sides.

This is for the Youth Smash but how come in the U19 SF between Kuo and Chang they had coaches? I thought since they are on the same national team the coaches would let the players battle on their own?
Each country has its own policy and it is not the same for all countries or even in a country, not necessarily the sameat all competition levels.

I always thought no coaching for same association matches was a rule enforced by international bodies to prevent match fixing.

I pretty sure there is no rule to that effect (although I'm open to correction) but, even if ITTF or any other organisation felt such a rule necessary, how would it prevent match fixing?

I think that's one factor, but there's probably more going on. I've noticed a lot of Vietnamese fans who have jumped on the ShaTou bandwagon and show as much zeal as Chinese fans.

Might have to do with social media and TikTok turning these two specifically into idols with a reach that goes beyond national pride. I don't particularly dislike it, but it says something about human nature that these cults of personality are what people gravitate towards.
I still remember the ZJK fan's cries. And the Beatles', for that matter.

Correct
Both these kids have high stakes, and both from different teams.
If they are from the same domestic team, then maybe no coaches

They will discuss up front

15 seconds for a yellow card in G3.
This umpire did the same to WCQ.
Clueless
Clueless? I'd say not punishing SYS's stalling *immediately after being reprimanded for stalling* was. That was so in your face; respectless, and totally lacking sportsmanship. (Unexpectedly, of course; SYS would be a great player if she had just an ounce of that.)

It is believed (i heard it during a commentary) to have been started by China in order to avoid favoritism and was embraced by other national teams. Works logically when you have a single head coach with ties to one or more players stronger than others. But it was never something formally written from ITTF. Just a sensible policy that makes sense in many situations but which one the other hand has favored older and more experienced players at later points in their careers over younger and less experienced players at earlier points in their career in big matches. As long as there are independent training systems I would prefer everyone have coaches.i suspect it cost Fan a few titles earlier in his career and hurt his mentality later.

Without a serve clock, this is all not objective. The rules say to play at the pace of the server. 15 seconds is not stalling.

China is the only country with centralized system. All other countries are all independent.

With China, if you the head coach and both players train under you, then it is complicated and shows favoritism, which is not good.

So yes, I like coaches too, and ok when it is truly independent. If same team, it is customary to have no coaches to be neutral.

I am not sure this will work anymore, so I think Kuai Man has a bigger chance than I realized. But Sun Yingsha is her CSL teammate so that must count for something as well. But Kuai Man lost to Chen Xingtong in Super League as well so this is definitely new territory.

Seems this worked all over again with some crowd help and minor adjustments.

Do you mean at only junior level? I know what you mean but this isn't quite true At senior level Other countries have moved to systems where national team coaches interact with and train the players altogether at least periodically for majot events. In fact, Nathaniel Molin became head coach of French men simply because he coaches the Lebruns. Jorgen Persson designed systems of coaches for lots of major tournaments with Sweden until his retirement after the Olympics. Rosakopf has tremendous control in Germany. So because of China, lots of countries have become more centralized as well if they were not already.
