Anti for the win, eh?
Not really... She won just 2-3 points the entire match by using her anti, she probably won more by twiddling to inverted. At this point, Sabine is using her FH so much she could just get a Japanese penhold blade with rubber only on one side!

Anti Sabine pulls off the insane comeback after being down 0-2 and defending match points despite having a few herself first.
Sabine's forehand is just incredible.

that is just people not understanding table tennis talking about "anti" in that kind of way.
true talent like Sabine takes anti into a proper pro level, that many pros actually enjoy taking on the challenges playing against her.

Sabine is an offensive player.
most ob players when they hear anti or pips, automatically think they are defensive or slow players.

if Sabine was changing to allround or defensive, I am sure she will fail dismally.
But using anti as an offensive tool, brilliant.

She used her anti a lot, and leaded Polcanova to do many mistakes, because of the variation. It's another way of gaining points.

I'm not sure she used her anti "a lot"... in fact I'm quite sure she used it far, far less that her FH, specifically to win points.
I also saw Polcanova being decently at ease against the anti chop blocks and "strawberries", and those worked best when Winter used them as sporadic variations instead of as a basic tactic.

That said, we must at least agree that Sabine Winter remains mostly an offensive player despite her switch to anti, and that anti has not become a huge part of her gameplay, nor the main reason why she wins points...

Sabine said she will only use 10-20% anti and the rest is offensive play

Starting to lose left and right. Exactly what yours truly warned about starting from 10/2024. The burden on Harimoto is starting to mount on Felix here.

Instead of relying on anti to wait for an opponent mistake like a lot of us and even some indian pros do, she uses it to set up a big fh attack/rally. I guess her gameplan is to stop any initiative from the opponent and then immediatly uses her fh (and in some specific case twiddling to use backside bh) to take an advantage and finish the point. At this, slick anti works like a charm. When she can use her fh, is there a reason to use anti instead ? No.

And if the opponent makes a mistake because of the slick anti, then it's bonus

Where is the hawkeye when you need it?
Chinese tech banned on grounds of national security?
But even so, political correctness meant SXN, being an immigrant, had to be right?

I just watched her match and that is indeed how it works for her. Sabine has a tremendously fast and powerful FH.
