Interesting conversation between Jocelyn Lam and her coach.

Amy Wang almost dragged SYB down after Ito last year.

So rare to see SYB lose in a contest of wingspan.

Grp12 M2
SYB 3-1 Amy Wang (3, 6, -9, 8)

you better hope that I'm not a grudge-bearing person, and I'll use some acting skills or just bai lan [TL's note: let it rot] and lose to Shao Jieni 0-4 or 1-3. If I can't get out of the group, then you'll go down with me.
P.S: From this perspective, this format is really disgusting🤢

I want to believe, CNT is prouder than that.

WYD in big trouble... She lost 1-3 to YJN. She needs to win 4-0 vs. Jieni Shao. Either way, this is a really bad look for her losing to a foreign competitor not from Japan even.
The score doesn't matter - WYD is out. Remember, it is only if players tie on match results that the game results matter.

After reading the regulations, it's not clear to me...

3.11. "Final ranking will be determined in terms of Regulation 3.7.5, excluding match points, and based solely on the ratios of wins to losses first in games and then points, as far as is necessary to resolve the order."

3.7.5.1 In a group, or "round robin", competition, all members of the group shall compete against each other and shall gain 2 match points for a win, 1 for a loss in a played match and 0 for a loss in an unplayed or unfinished match; the ranking order shall be determined primarily by the number of match points gained. If a player is defaulted after the completion of a match for any reason, he or she shall be deemed to have lost the match, which shall subsequently be recorded as a loss in an unplayed match. [I THINK THAT THIS PART DOES NOT APPLY SINCE WE HAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF 2:2]

3.7.5.2 "If two or more members of the group have gained the same number of match points their relative positions shall be determined only by the results of the matches between them, by considering successively the numbers of match points, the ratios of wins to losses first in individual matches (for a team event), games and points, as far as is necessary to resolve the order."
Hmmm - it seems they slightly modified the rules from last year. "Excluding match points" seems new.

The best part about it was that the review was initiated by the opponent. If this remains and they can iron out the speed of the review, this will be great for TT. Will greatly reduce the use of these bombs are critical points in the match since a player can call for a review.

What I don't like is that they are only enforcing visibility at contact and not the other related rules like the old system used to (the one that used to fault Ma Long). Maybe that is why they are now releasing this one.

I find these 2-2 results so unsatisfying. If you don't want to do best of 5/7 , then make it play 3 games or play 5 games (add a table if necessary).
They could have all three players on court at the same time with best of 3, have all 3 matches in succession. Done and dusted, easy. I think having all three players might switch up the dynamics and atmosphere too.
