TBH, it was fitting for CIC to win. She was the better player for most of the match. Hayata's footwork, anticipation, shot stability were just awful the 1st three games. Only reason it went to 7 is that Hayata is a fighter. I don't know. I think she needs a coaching change as she did not seem to be prepared at all for this match.

Togami, if he figures table tennis out, the universe is in trouble.
The man has superhuman reflexes and athleticism. I can imagine him being one of the GOATs of multiball training. But yeah he needs to find a way to bring that sort of game consistently in his matches.

In the 2nd and 3rd game it looked like she forgot how to hit a FH. CIC kept challenging her there and they all kept missing the table. By the time she found it again in the 4th game, it was already too late.

Except it wasn't, because Hayata kept fighting as you said. The fact that Hayata needed a 4-0 reverse sweep against CIC and it almost happened at match point for her save for a missed 3rd ball putaway is a pretty impressive feat. Results aside, the woman is entertaining and you can't count her out at any deficit (unless against a top Chinese player of course).

I can imagine him at the national training camp close to passing out from falkenberg and then he sneaks a look over at the Harimoto & Sora camps…

No amount of coaching will help at this point. On the contrary, Hayata could extend her career only because of 岡雄介/OKA Yusuke. Hayata has always suffered from fluctuating form in the past, which has gotten more consistent in recent years but she still falls ill after strenuous matches. Coupled with her left arm that will never heal, a personal trainer is far more important than a personal coach.

SYS is not. They are from the same generation. This is more like Ito and SYS. But falling ill after WTTC 2024 tells me Hayata is also about to hit her limit like Ito did in 2019. Having a history of getting injured, she has gotten less injury-prone with the help of 岡雄介/OKA Yusuke?, but her dumbness can't be made up for with hard work.

Hayata's training hours have been cut back by 1 to 2 hours to 3.5 hours a day now and she can't do that many chiquitas so she has to choose when to use it. It was around mid-December that she started realizing she couldn't fully recover (couldn't do what she could not only in practice but also matches) and after losing 4 T.league matches in a row in late-December that she decided the old way of playing was no good going forward.

Though I'm afraid it is too late now. I've always said Smart Hayata is the way to go after WTTC 2022 but now she is only doing it out of fear of getting injured again (and ending her career for real). Her top gear is no longer there when she needs it and she will definitely need it against the CNT. But props to her personal trainer and current coach 岡雄介/OKA Yusuke for the real change.

Hayata 2-3 CIC
...
Why does Harimoto lose so bad?
How much longer can her arm hold out even in Smart Hayata mode?

Made my day when the RTHK color commentator and former HKG player and current coach of the junior team, 劉耀祖/Lau Yiu Cho, referred to Kallberg (27, 1997/8/17) as 瑞典小將/Swedish youngster...

He lose a lot of points due to error in short touch and push, I hope the JNT staff can notice this and give him more training on this matter

This one was the closest after WTTC 2023 where the last 3 games were separated by 2 points only. It's getting harder for Ito to win. The outlook for the golden generation is getting grim.

Thoroughly enjoyable match to watch. Some of those points were downright artistic with Diaz able to send back everything but Mima's most powerful smashes. Both girls demonstrated great feel for the ball and that led to some cool rallies with unothordox stuff mixed in.

There was a point somewhere in the 3rd game where Mima had to mix in two drop shots during a rally in order for her to finally get a hard shot past Diaz. At the end both were seemed to be smiling from just enjoying the style of play each was bringing out of the other. Always great to see the rare moments like this as a spectator.

Ito wins - its going to get harder for her to win
Hayata wins - its going to get harder for her to win
when they loose - the end is coming

I saw this on TTD when Ishikawa was playing, it went on for a few years.

THE BATTLE OF CHEATERS
TTR reveals serve faults. Some luxury to my eyes.
Looks much like vexed contest between two cheaters. Heh.

Anyone notice the Japanese women players always check the opponents rubbers even if they are not using pips. I don’t see the mens side do this at all.

What were they saying?
Took me a while to get to this... I had a hunch one of her parents or grand parents is from HKG last year when I saw her last name.
