Someone with more knowledge needs to answer that. I would imagine the host city is paying for most of it.
The word on the street is that they originally had a venue (nice one) that was separate from Orleans for tables 2, 3 and 4, but it fell through last second and they had to pivot into the temporary tent.

Obviously not an ideal situation, but I would not be so quick to judge wtt/organizers because we don't know what happened with the original deal and how much of it was their fault vs the venue overbooking or taking a more lucrative event, etc. They DID plan on something more professional with better conditions than what we are seeing now so can't knock them there.

Let's say Duda did this and won. Duda himself wouldn't fully satisfied with this win.
So you mean Duda worked hard on making his serves legal so he could be mad at beating a player who used an illegal serve to beat him? Everyone has their own opinion for sure since we dont know what he would say. But you know mine. I am sure Rosskopf realized it later and taught his team to use those challenges. Germany are smart about such things.

I mean if I won match because I simple used this challenge future I wouldn't fully satisfy with this win and wouldn't feel I won because I played better

Great effort by Goda. Really had SYS flustered for most of the match. It's always a joy to watch Goda compete. Girl wears her heart on her sleeve, has the most colorful reactions (none negative), and never gives up on herself. She's got a mentality that I'm sure many coaches would love all of their young players to have.

That's the difference between us casual players and pros. We don't know what it feels like to lose and have food taken from our mouths because some other dude was breaking the rules and maybe getting an advantage.

I also don't think a pro really believes that a couple of points won by TTR makes them doubt that their victory was unjustified. They already have a belief (and almost have to) that they are skilled enough to beat anyone. And they already had to win 30+ points at least in different ways.

I don't know. Germany is known as 國/Virtuous Country in Chinese, after the pronunciation of Deutsch. LOL Duda earned many Chinese fans (notwithstanding many of them were WCQ haters) on that day.

I remember Boll once pointed out an edge ball on match point and when asked why, he said it didn't feel right to win like that.

Cheating is very different from enforcing the rules. And Duda is very meticulous about keeping his serves legal. He has one of thr rarest things you will see in table tennis. A high toss reverse pendulum serve. Anyone who goes through the trouble to develop that cares about following the rules.

In principle, a player can't request TTR unless the umpire has made a call but somehow that was not the case for World Cup 2025, and needless to say, things got ugly and personal quickly.

In the end, Duda observed the rule (knowingly or not), lost the match, and earned respect.
