Spectator who said that should be kicked out of the stadium and banned from all ITTF/WTT events for life.
i don't think they have the guts to do that.
everyone must be silence towards you know who, because you are messing with 1.3 billion and messing with a lot of money. The world has shown that money talks and they behavior is probably all linked with who has the most money (trade etc).

Sadly not all of them are like that, but it is difficult for good people to speak up when evil prevails.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as much as we try to be laissez faire, please if someone posts something blatantly undesirable to the forum just report it rather than creating a trail of posts that will need to be deleted eventually. I have deleted posts related to wishing death to those who erroneously wished supporters of the Japanese death. I am not entirely sold that the issue with the crowd at the World Cup is cultural and is any more than one bad egg or a few bad eggs, but I will allow such discussions in good faith. Thank you.

Looks like Germany willplay Kaufmann against Harimoto and to that end, put Mittelham and Duda in the XD. Will be interesting to see whether that yields fruit on the whole. I wonder whether they will test Winter in XD at some point...

I don't remember Zhu Chengzhu ever being particularly good vs chop. What changed?
She trained for it after WTTC 2022 and narrowly lost to Bergstrom at Paris 2024.

I'd add that those without knowledge of both the source and target languages involved and the historical background should refrain from posting on the topic. This incident is not unlike the one between USA and CAN.

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/drop-dead#idioms-and-phrases
Idioms and Phrases
An expression of anger, rejection, or indignation toward someone. For example, I should do all that work for you? Drop dead! This rude imperative is usually hyperbolic, that is, the speaker is not literally asking someone to die on the spot. [c. 1930] Curiously, the adjective (and adverb) drop-dead is not at all insulting. Rather, it means “dazzling” or “awe-inspiring,” as in She wore a drop-dead outfit that all the other women admired. This usage originated in slangy journalism in the 1960s.

AI Overview
The phrase "drop dead" is not a formal curse, but
a slang expression of anger, disgust, or contempt used to tell someone to go away or be quiet.

"Drop dead" as an insult

Meaning: It's a rude expression of anger to tell someone to leave or be quiet.
Origin: It is similar in intent to older insults, such as the ancient Roman curse "Ī in malam crucem!" which meant "go to the evil cross" or "go hang yourself".

“未经他人苦,莫劝他人善;若经他人苦,未必有他善”
"If you have never suffered through their hardships, do not advise them to simply be more tolerant; for if you have suffered through their hardships, you might not even be as tolerant as they are"
This is a very straightforward Chinese saying, but it's worth noting that 苦 (lit. bitterness) here can imply a huge variety of things, not just hardships (ex: poverty). In this saying it can also mean some horrible event or painful experience, and so this saying can frequently also mean "don't tell the victim how to feel about the abuser/what happened to them, because you have never been through it".

It's good to know that there is an alternative context for understanding all this that makes it possibly more palatable. That said, since the focus will largely be on this event, I suspect this discussion might have to take place elsewhere if it gets too long. It is interesting that Chinese fans of Harimoto have concerns despite this alternative context existing. But in any case, it can be discussed extensively elsewhere if the common sense is wrong and the alternative takes forever to hash out.

Due to language barriers as well the translation might not be accurate in English but any of the players/people who are attending these events and are experiencing issues whether it’s racism or prejudice or any other issue should be something to talk about and not be something to keep hidden from the forums.

Someone may have answered this elsewhere but why is Lam Siu Hang playing these singles and not Chan Baldwin?
I think Chan Baldwin should be playing the singles more often. I thought he was the 2nd ranked player from HK after WCT but there are certain type of opponents where I believe CB is better than WCT.

No disagreement - it's a matter of what this becomes in practice and to what degree this is inherent to the event as opposed to something that can be more easily addressed either in another thread or on another kind of forum. But that bridge will be crossed when if/when it is reached.

Looks like Kallberg is going to be the villain of the Sweden Hong Kong match and T Harimoto won't matter for the Japan Germany match. Japan Korea will probably be when the event begins. I was surprised that China Korea was so boring...
