Japan, France, and Germany with more players advancing in MS than China
Largely because they lost a participant with Lin Shidong. Germany does take some credit obviously.

I was wondering the same. I think he just left before Dima was finished. Not sure if that's even allowed.
Oh, Saive told a story of playing Chen Qi or someone on CNT and doing well because Liu Guoliang was coaching another player. He said he was up 3-1 and when that other match was over and LGL came, everything changed and he lost 4-3. So I know it is possible, it is likely Rosskopf left Dima once it was 2-2,

the ittf really seems to just not upload any of these matches, what a shame there have already been so many great ones
they are doing it, it just isn't WTT so it is taking a long time. and the live videos are still available as well.

As umpire you need to check who the advisor is before the match starts. I looked at handbook and it doesn't look like they have accounted for a situation like this in a singles event.

It is quite possible that Rosskopf was registered to coach all the German players and just left Franziska coachless to start. I doubt the situation has not been handled or addressed by ITTF before. MAybe it isn't written in the rules, but nothing as far as I can see prevents someone from coaching two players as long as when he is at one match, he is not at the other. Maybe in just this case, their being in the same physical location made it easier.

They still had the full player count plus an extra entry from the world champ spot. CYY got in after the LSD withdrawal to fill the freed up NER. Not the same level sure, but it can't be the expectation to bow out 0-3 like that. LJK might be near the end of his career, but that's also still disappointing from 2-0 up. Especially Zhou Qihao who just got into the WTTTC team, drew the lowest seed here and came up short regardless. I was kinda worried for Franz going into this, none of the sets ended up being particularly close though, especially in the decider i expected some more fight back from Zhou. Wouldn't say these are crazy results or anything, it's just all around pretty underwhelming even without Lin Shidong.

Twisted draw. No seeding???

ITTF/WTT stupidity reigns again, seeding 4 instead of 8. I guess the need to encourage gambling is addictive.
Always 25% seeded, so you can just tell from the bracket size every time. Of course that's pretty dumb for the most important events.

On seeding, this one was just very stupid given the event size. I can handle 8 in a 32 player draw but 4 in a sixteen is stupid especially for an ITTF event that started with 48 players. They should separate ITTF from WTT but since both need the gambling money...

I forgot CYY got in but yeah, Dang took him apart. Seems like Germany really took the assignment seriously. Duda must be angry he didn't get a CNT player lol.

What an absolute belter of a lineup, roll on the next few days.

The best of these matches are set for Friday but tomorrow's not too bad either.
