TT11 posted a video them blind testing Zyre, D05, Bluestar a2 and MX-P°50.
The results were quite interesting, but I think using an all wood blade made it pointless. The results are very weird and honestly I think anomalies like the Zyre called a soft slow rubber and D05 having extremely low throw should not happen. Even though Dani said that the Zyre was faster than the D05 it still gave the impression that neither if them is fast enough. Or maybe it was a bad gluejob?
What do you think?

I feel like the blade choice should be more representative. It's unknown exactly how much the blade affects the rubber performance, and it might cause it to diverge more than just being slower. I'm of the "blade doesn't do that much" camp but it doesn't mean that's true, so I'd try to eliminate error if possible.

I can't imagine a player who would seriously use something like Zyre-03 using it on a wood blade, not in the current game.

Dosn't diginics 05 have the lowest throw out of the diginics series?

I always interpreted high throw as landing further but I think I've gotten it backwards the last 5 years 😭😭😭

Interesting. I think Z03 takes some getting used to, so not shocked it didn't impress them. I know a few players who hated it at first and are now using it. Very surprised they found it slow.

I was using boosted Zyre-03 on my Golden Long 5 CPen and it was faster than in their videos and I put the Z-03 on my 1st Custom NEXY blade and it's very fast, so maybe the allwood just reduced the speed THAT much, or they're not using more power.
The pro felt the potential and the defender felt the ease of counterlooping, but i think that without match play, some of their observations leave a bit to be desired.

You need to play with Zyre 03 a bit in my experience and make some adaptations if you see spin a certain way especially if your focus is attacking backspin. If your focus is countering topspin, then the rubber tends to need little adjustment.

It’s a strange rubber. I somewhat agree that it does not feel as hard as it is suppose to feel at 44 degree. When I tried d05 I always thought it felt hard. And zyre on a 5/7 ply wood blade
Does feel slow then say a t05 on the same wood blade.

It would help the viewers better understand the tester's assessment by stating explicitly and precisely what they usually play with when comparing so we know where they're coming from.

It's the thin Z03 topsheet that confuses people. The Z03 sponge is significantly harder than the D05 sponge, and plays that way. Also significantly faster when activated. In my experience this is not subtle. As usual, the softer sponges are easier to activate, so on softer contact D05 (and especially T05) will feel more lively.

Haha, I don't exist?
To be fair I feel like Zyre-03 is not exactly made for USATT 2000~ players. Maybe more like 2400. Just being honest.

So no, that'd be in the category of "not seriously using" :p.

Nah, I think the review holds weight. The blade was consistent throughout the test so the blade was constant. What they reviewed was the variable, each rubber against each other. You could say this is the baseline. If someone wants to change the speed, they can change the blade

What about if they used a 4mm pre-made 5ply? Would it still be as valid?

True. They are all mostly Hurricane and ESN users. And yes, they should present their usual setup for contrast in these reviews.
