it just doesn't work that way. training is totally different then competition and you can't really judge someone just by looking at some training vids. a lot of players loose rating points because of nerves, discomfort, unknown or orthodox playstyles, material players like short/medium/long pimples & anti, or just having a bad week or time in their life. in training most of use look great, especially the stuff we upload to yt

Makes sense. Anyway, I think this thread is uselss since I've found some bilibili videos where rating of the players is shown, for USATT it's quite easy to find on YT.

Hi, I post videos on my YT Channel and I was curious what my rating would be (approximately, of course) in China and in USATT systems?
The link for YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@brieftabletennisequipmentr1579

That's not a promotion, I really am curious...
Have you checked out the YouTube channel 'road to 1750TTR'?
He's at appx 1650 now I think and youd probably give each other a good game.

Have you no opportunity to get a rating where you play?

Hey @mihalichtheone, I assume you play competitively in Russia - what is your ranking there? Regarding your question - actually I'd also like to know my rating in TTR and USATT, but that is impossible to get. What however is possible, is to get my percentile in Czech Rep - I can (and I did I think year ago) download the list of all registered players in CR (count N), find myself there (position P), and find how many players are behind me = 100*(N-P)/N % = let's call it percentile ;-) Once you know that, it is safe to say you have approx. the same percentile also in Germany/TTR and in USA/USATT. Finally - come to Germany for the meeting ;-) I can offer to drive you there from CR, unf. only that. ;-)

I play competitively in Russia, the ratings here are completely different and won't say much to anyone outside.

I played in Slovakia in 2019-2020 competitively in leagues, with the help of Facebook I've found the club called VIKTÓRIA PETRŽALKA and played for the time I was in Slovakia. Found that page: https://www.sstz.sk/hraci/16671/liga

I made so many friends there and was delighted to play in leagues as well as in some international tournaments in Austria and Hungary!

Thank you for the invitation to Germany, however due to all the sanctions (and for the fact that I am family person now) I can't participate.

As for the math - lemme ask AI to do it for me and I will return with the answer.

Usually, you need a full video or full highlights of a competitive match to get started asking this question. Then moat of us get a better feel when we see you play a player whose level we know. While different countries have different systems, many players have played in otber countries so if you know your rank and we see what a player who has played in the US with that rank has achieved, then one gets a decent approximation. For example, many people tend to find me to have terrible form and footwork in the abstract and tend to revise their estimates only when they are aware of the strength of rhe people I am playing against.

And of course, the broader the estimate, the more likely it is to be accurate. Narrower estimates require precision that just doesn't exist in these estimations.

All that said, the highlights show you are a solid player, but what that means in a very wide range between 1600 USATT to 2400 USATT or 1300 to 2000 TTR is anyone's guess.

i have two penholders in my club which you look comparable to (in those more relaxed training matches) and they are around 1700 TTR. but it's difficult to judge by videos like this, in training matches & drills i usually play 100-200 TTR better than in real matches ;)
