My opinion on the whole matter at this:

I’ve worked with Heming for a while now. He’s helped me improve my game a lot. I think he’s a great coach for our levels because most of us on this forum are intermediate-advanced club level players, his target audience.

However, his coaching style might not be for everyone, and it’s totally okay to have constructive criticism like tony had. I personally think if you don’t agree with a coach’s coaching style, then just find another coach who works for you. It just seems unnecessary to engage in a lot of heated exchanges for nothing. Let everyone have their own opinion, and don’t engage too much with those u don’t align with

Yeah I have also worked with him and I had bad experience. Also gave me the feeling that all he cares about is money money money.
I also think that for 95% people here there is enough free content on the internet that you can work on your own without having to pay 500$/month for an online coach. Or just invest that money in an actual coach that is near by and can correct and help you in the training live.

"I have worked as a confidence, success, and mindset coach (...) It is an obsession for me to help those who haven't yet been through the journey of "achieving their dreams", be able to make sense of the things that enable athletes to operate at their best" ... sounds a bit like the Jordan Peterson for table tennis players.

and "club players"???
I know of a 45 year old club player in Germany, who is kicking USATT 2500 players butts (he beat one of our juniors 3-1)
He is a dentist by trade and a chopper.
you might know his name. He is a TTR2550 player.

I think it is important to differentiate pro club players and amateur club players - or what Aruna calls it - hobby players.

not all club players are hobby, especially when we talking about audiences in Europe.
I understand club players in Australia are normally more hobby players.

PS. some of my players are in Germany TTBL, they are also club players. William Henzel is a TTBL player. I'm not sure if any other Oceania player in the recent decade are TTBL level players - other than William, is there any one else?
I've seen a match on youtube between "non-pro" players, meaning guys not being paid for playing, in french nationale 1, guess who it was ? Damien Eloi vs Adrien Mattenet. Damien Eloi is aged 55 now ! still playing in a tier 3 league club, and of course his main job is still related to Andro.

Jean-Philippe Gatien is back in the game too ! he's back to his hometown in the south of france at AS Salindres. He's still 2300 FFTT, meaning 400 more points in USATT. But as the FFTT ranking system has really inflated because of the Lebrun Bros and with more and more foreign top 50 WTT guys coming in the Pro A and B, it's hard to tell for some ex pros.

yep, these are all "club" players.
but very high level club players haha

PS.. I was thinking of entering some juniors into national 1, until I saw the depth it has...
these juniors would be 2500+ usatt rating, which is possibly some national champions level in some lower tier tt country, but against the Europeans pros... it won't be enough.

I've gained and lost students for the same reasons in music teaching. Some guys only want to play by ear, have a proper technique but not extensive ones like tapping, slapping, palm muting, plectrum alone, plectrum + palm muting etc. They just want to be confident with their friends in a garage band playing rock standards. As long as you meet their basic requirements, fine, you'll keep them for years.

Some others will push you hard wanting to learn nearly everything possible, and those ones switch a lot from a teacher to another one. I've even been asked to prep teens for french baccalauréat with music class option (US high school graduation exam to enter college) and this can be very specific, talking about history of music for example. If the parents think you're not doing a good job, bye bye ! Cos' they pay you 30€ for a 45 minutes lesson each week from September to June !
