I have been watching Sidorenko from some time, he was banned to play international stage due to war (he is russian). He play incredibly good, he has no fear and is very flexible. He also destroyed Duda few days ago. I think he is going to be top 20 soon.

Is war finished?

Well .. Can you imagine during WW2 german players participate in tournaments?
Things change all the time especially when something goes on longer than expected and they are not playing under the Russian flag, which is what some people find most important. Do you think it is important that someone like Sidorenko be unable to play because of government actions he has no control over?

At elections you vote for certain people. If you can't change them on elections you do what for example did people in Syria
Another question. Would you still let him to play if he tells you he support war?

We are going off topic, if you have data that says he supports the war, then feel free to move this to the politics thread. He has accepted playing and competing under a flag that is not his original nationality. That is enough of an insult to bear IMHO. This discussion on this thread is closed.

Everything is constantly changing, especially when something lasts longer than expected, like Operation Blitzkrieg and the Germans for some reason didn't play under their own flags.
Do you think it's important that someone like an athlete from the Third Reich was unable to compete internationally due to government actions over which he had no control?

It's easy for you to think about this now, being safe, but today a russian ballistic missile hit a residential high-rise building in Kyiv with a direct hit. Innocent people, children, many injured, bleeding civilians died. Many people were left homeless and at this time you are evaluating the performance of a representative of the country that created it

Still, it's wild if a player is permitted to play for a country (with a flag or without it) whose country wages the biggest genocidal war for almost 5 years since the WW2. With tens of civilian casualties every day, let alone battlefield casualties.

The final took place at the exact time when tens of peaceful Ukrainians were killed by ballistic missiles (and the Russian defense ministry is bravely posting videos with attacks not even trying to deny they willingfully target civilian just for terror).

Kinda wild to me.

So what about USA and (just to name a few) Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, the two unnecessary bombs in Japan, the numerous dictatorships they funded around the world, all these deaths and disasters! Should they be banned from any kind of sports for at least the next 1000 years? Israelis and the genocide in Gaza?

I think it's really important if the war is going on RIGHT NOW. When the war ends and the war criminals are prosecuted, I don't mind Russia participating the very next day.

Until then, russian athletes' participation is the same as nazi Germany athletes competing internationally in 1943.

Is USA joined any part of Korea, Cuba, Yugoslavia, Irak or Afghanistan?

There have been literally 100s of wars in the world since the 1950s.
Why not take all the sanctions you would like to see handed out and medals you would like to see rescinded and bring it to the POLITICS AND BULLSHIT page in here.
That way the rest of us don't need to be falling over your particular brand of propaganda
.
Everyone is free to make up their own minds about Russia, NATO and the Ukraine but nobody comes looking for it in the competition threads

Don't be mad if you disagree with something, it's not propaganda, it's a an opinion different from yours :)

Sorry, can't take "whataboutism" seriously, such a flawed logic.

If your are spreading your opinion to influence and tell others what to think, that is propoganda.

The fact that you don't know you are spreading propoganda is even more dangerous.

Differing opinions are fine. The difference is almost everyone else in here is following the rules and keeping their opinions to themselves.

I've read and appreciated enough of your posts over the years to know that you should actually know better.

*As long as it contradicts your personal beliefs ;)
To the point where you deliberately twist my words to ignore the "I think" part.

One day you will have to accept that other people may have different opinions. And that some people believe wars are unethical and must have consequences.
